Final two episodes of Glee Season 1: AWESOME! And hillarious. And tearjerking.

First episode of True Blood Season 3: AWESOME! And hillarious. And hello thar Sam/Bill dream sequence. Sequel to that dream, please?

First episode of HGTV Design Star Season 5: ... what? Really? WTF? I'm giving this another couple weeks and then I'm probably ditching this show. Vern Yip sucks as a TV show host, and now this is turning into Vern Yip's Design Star. I get it, HGTV is hurting financially or something, but y'all couldn't be bothered to put anything resembling production values into this show? Or, ya know, class? Well, other than Candace, cuz I'd watch her read the telephone book she's that awesome. And no Clive? Really, show? I loved that the judges did walk-throughs and interact more with the contestants and that they started with the white-box challenge, but beyond that this really really sucked.

Since this clearly has me wanting to be chatty, let's recap the series as a whole, shall we?

  • Season 1 had the "new show" vibe, and we got a really awesome designer out of it with his own show (David Bromstadt is now on to a new version of his show on HGTV, which makes me happy. I should probably watch that).

  • Season 2 refined the formula of Season 1 and was probably the best season they had, and we got yet another awesome designer out of it (Kim Myles, and her show is fun!).

  • Season 3 was another great year, until a gay porn controversy put a huge ol' black mark on the show and kept one of the designers out of the finale reunion and the awesome designer who won (Jennifer Bertrand) then got the crap treatment from the studio and her show was quietly not-launched and then apparently cancelled before anyone actually got to know it was there.

  • Season 4 was a giant cluster with Tashika's classless send-off (she should have been gone earlier, but Vern was a total dick about her send-off) and it was apparently decided that America had no business choosing the winner that wasn't going to appeal to the straight male demographic or edgy female demographic that HGTV is clearly deisgned for and thus we got a winner that nobody I know has any interest in watching on television and clearly the people would have picked the runner up as evidenced by the reaction of the internet.

So, yeah, that word.

Well, cable came back late last night. Much to my excitement. Spent the day with Battlestar Galactica, Legally Blonde: The Musical, and Civilization IV. Really. That was my day. Well that and cooking. And I may have watched an episode of Color Splash which was conveniently waiting on the Tivo.

Okay so I easily amused myself without internet. Bite me. :-p (Not an offer, [livejournal.com profile] eligrrl)

Now it's back to the daily grind at work. We're somewhat busy today, so I'm getting back to it now that lunch is over.

Design star finale stuff )

Mikey V was mysteriously absent from the finale... He's apparently on administrative leave at his day job (police officer) due to the brouhaha, so I'm betting that had something to do with his absence.

Time to go back to work! I had a good vacation, not that anyone here could tell due to my entire lack of posting, but hey.

Went to a party last weekend, painted my kitchen, watched some TV, played some Sims 2, played some Hellgate London, played some EverQuest 2, played some City of Heroes. And the week seemed so so so long. Now I'm ready to go back to work. Amazing what a good vacation will do for that!

Design Star had the final design last night. I'm voting for Jen all the way. I'd watch either of their shows, but Jen's room was the most well done and Matt's seemed to have some holes in the wall (???) and an outlet plate missing in the living room/closet.

In not so happy news, my cat Daniel has decided to bleed again while urinating. We think he's just got something clogging him up like a stone. I'm calling the vet this morning to set up an appointment.

Well, time to get ready to head out the door!
jdotmi: (Default)
I'll be nice in case anyone here actually watches the show and TIVO'd it instead of watching it while TIVO recorded it last night like I did. Individual challenge week is always interesting.

Cut for fun! )
jdotmi: (Default)
Downloaded the Legally Blonde musical to my PC so we can burn it to DVD for [livejournal.com profile] carebear_flare since he's the one who recorded it on Tivo. Freed up 3 hours on the Tivo. Then we actually sat down and watched some of our shows. Heroes (which was great except for the whole Maya is a total retard bit) and Pushing Daisies (which is the best show on television right now). We also watched Property Virgins. There's not much to say about that show. If you like House Hunters, you may like this. It's a single realtor showing all the people around, and she gives them advice and tells the audience exactly what the people are doing wrong.

Well, time to focus back on work.
jdotmi: (Default)
Pushing Daisies continues to be the best new show we have on our Tivo. Seriously. It's funny, it's dark, it's light, it's fast paced, it's emotional, it's smart. It's Dead Like Me on crack! If you are not watching this show you are seriously missing out.

We're quite astounded with how much we have on Tivo that we don't want to part with. We've never had this many shows, especially this many shows we want to watch together, in a single season. Pushing Daisies, Bionic Woman, Reaper, Chuck, and Heroes. Five hours of television per week that isn't on HGTV that we watch together. Add to that my show (Smallville) and [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi's shows (Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, and Dirty Sexy Money) and you have a gigantoid segment of our lil 40 hour Tivo that is accounted for. Plus, [livejournal.com profile] carebear_flare likes to watch a few of these shows with us, too. It's psychotic!!

The problem is... we don't have a dual tuner. We need one badly. That way we can get Ugly Betty added to our list as opposed to having to wait for it on DVD or on marathons over the weekends. And we can also get Bionic Woman and Private Practice at the same time. Wednesday nights are particularly brutal for us. There aren't many shows on that we don't want to watch on Wednesday.

On a less TV related note, I paid the remainder of my rent yesterday, which only came out to around $8 somehow. I'm not complaining, but it means we've been overpaying somehow. We need to get that sorted out before next month's rent payment so we don't have it happen again. To celebrate being less broke than we thought, we all went out and partook of the Neverending Pasta Bowl at Olive Garden and we all proceeded to eat way too much food. A quick, and pricy, Meijer run followed, a drive home, some tv watching and sleep, and I'm still not hungry yet. Seriously!

I'm really excited about [livejournal.com profile] carebear_flare's new job at the Cage, and I'm hoping he can maneuver it into a permanent position. He even got a call from Borders for an interview in the AP department! When it rains it pours, I guess!

Well, I'm gonna go play something. Either Civ IV (which just got patched) or Sims 2 (which I haven't yet patched) or Blue Dragon (which I downloaded the Hard Mod aka New Game + for) or City of Villains where I'm slowly becoming addicted to a Brute.

Or maybe I'll go be a shameless flirt online. I've been known to do that.

Tivo Love?

jdotmi: (Shower Fresh)
Finally got to watch this weeks Heroes last night. So far, this season doesn't quite have the punch of last season, but this was still a pretty decent episode. Spoilery cut ) We also watched Property Virgins, which is a pretty cool show. Canadian, but most good shows these days are. Yes, it's a home buying show, get over it. So, we still have this week's episodes of Chuck, Reaper, and Pushing Daisies to watch. Not sure if that'll be tonight or tomorrow, though, since [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi is supposed to be on a homework/study buddy binge tonight for his programming class. We shall see.

Today is free lunch day here. Also known as All Hands Meeting day. I like our new All Hands Meetings. They drive us to a hotel, give us free snacks, we get a multimedia presentation, then we come back and basically work a half day. And our department has ordered us pizza for both of them so far. It's also [livejournal.com profile] carebear_flare's first day of work at our IT Cage. He put in apps with Kelly on Monday, got called on Tuesday, and found out yesterday. I was pretty certain when he told me on Tuesday he was working at an "IT Cage" but didn't know where yet that he would be at Borders. I was right! I am highly amused. :)

I'm not dead yet! Although, several of you knew that since I'm still all commenty and whatnot on journals. But, anyway, I was on vacation last week (as evidenced by my last friends-locked post), and I spent the entirety of it trying to relax. I got myself nicely readdicted to Civilization IV (the new expansion has made the game a lot of fun), Sims 2 (another new expansion came out), and Blue Dragon. Yes, Blue Dragon is an XBox 360 game. Yes, we bought an XBox 360 Elite. ANYRATE, it's fun. And [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi got me mildly addicted to Forza 2, but that's neither here nor there. He's addicted to Bioshock, but, really, can you blame him? I got into an alpha test for a game which is turning out to be pretty fun. It's hopefully going into beta soon and should be released by the end of October. If you enjoyed Diablo II at all you should really like this game. I sorta OD'd on it while on vacation, so I've taken a couple days to play other games now. I got back on the City of Heroes/Villains bandwagon as well. My Mastermind has had a bit too much fun in the Rikti War Zone and is now finishing up her story arcs so that she can hopefully hit 40 soon.

We bought Season 1 of Heroes and, just as I expected, [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi is thoroughly addicted. The the point of watching two disks with me in one day. We rarely watch TV on DVD together, so this was nice. We do watch a lot of HGTV together. Design Star Season 2 is having it's finale this Sunday, and Kim better freakin' win.

In terms of work, I just had a glowing mid-year review (we do reviews based on the fiscal year, not calendar year) so I'm in a pretty good mood regarding that. And all of our training stuff has been set up so we can work on taking courses that will allow us to get actual certs, so that'll be nice to dive in to. Of course, right now I have to dive back in to work, so I'm going to post this and be on my merry way
jdotmi: (Default)
Wow. It's been a while since I posted in here! I feel like such a bad blogger, except for that part where I don't typically blog so much as babble when I write in this thing. Still, it beats the mounds of memes that I used to post all the time.

So, what has my life been like since last I posted? Let us explore, shall we?

Weekends off? Cool! Oh wait, there was money involved in that... )

FullTimeJob needs socialization badly. )

[livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi has been going crazy due to end of the semester wackiness, and group projects where his group is non-existant. That's all done and over with and so far so good. He has this week off then starts summer term up next week. Here's to hoping the job hunt goes well, too.

I got bit by the spring cleaning bug. I got a lot done, but have a lot more to do. And I really want to keep it up this time. Granted, I say that EVERY time and it never sticks. I've got a bit more laundry to do, my desk to clean, and my bathroom to clean and then all of my areas are done. I should probably vacuum the apartment today or tomorrow, too.

I don't watch enough TV. Honest. )

We still need to go visit [livejournal.com profile] lilacmoon5 before she and her husband move out of state. The move date got pushed back, so we have a little more time, but I want to do it soon™. Why, yes, I do want to get season 1 of Battlestar Galactica back so that I can watch it and then season 2 and then season 3 when we buy it and get caught up. I'm weird that way. :p And I wouldn't mind getting one last Shadowrun game in, either. Or a few games of Fluxx or Dalmuti or Crononauts.

Sims 2 addiction much? )

I almost regret to say that I cancelled my City of Heroes account. We haven't played either Heroes or Villains in months, so it was a logical decision. Of course, Issue 9 was just released today. Fortunately, there isn't anything in Issue 9 that has me jumping up and down and going "I want it! I want it!" so it's not going to get me back.

World of Warcraft babble )

[livejournal.com profile] nuadha_prime needs to have a card night again soon. Granted, more people need to show up for them, but hey. ;) And I need to get him back his copy of Kingdom Come. Reminds me, I need to pick up comics. I'm a little behind. Dropping Wonder Woman until issue 13, though, so that should help. Probably going to cut back a little bit more, but not sure.

Anyrate, I've spent 30 minutes typing this up. I'm gonna post it and maybe write more later. :p

Lunch break!

New Sims 2 expansion is out this weak. Seasons. Either [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi or myself will be picking it up today. I probably won't get much play time with it, though, since I have to kill a dragon tonight.

Watched some Candice and some Jane (albeit, slightly americanized) last night. Kitties were annoyed that they didn't have the couch to themselves, though.

Um. Hmm. Nothing else interesting to post about. Had a pretty boring couple of days this week so far. *shrugs*
jdotmi: (Default)
I really couldn't think of a title for this entry. It's a mish-mash entry. Y'all will live. ;)

So, yesterday was apparently the second week of September. Seriously! This whole linear flow of time thing is obviously not working. Why do I say this, you ask? Simple.

Yesterday, my sinuses turned into Niagra Falls.

I woke up yesterday morning thinking to myself, "Self, your eyes are really watery, and you're quite congested... how can this possibly be?" I then spent the remainder of the day making my nose turn red and remembering that, yes indeed, post-nasal-drip causes sore throats. Thankfully, last night was [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi to the rescue because he had Meijer brand Sudafed, which helped. Took some this morning which has helped, too. Going to take some more in an hour or so to carry me through the rest of my work day.

So, you ask, how does this translate into yesterday being the second week of September? Simple! The second week of September is the week this normally happens. It's been like that for at least six years. This year, it didn't happen until yesterday, therefore yesterday was the second week of September.

Yeah. That word. Moving on!

We watched a bit of HGTV last night. We watched Divine Design and Get Color and [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi watched Desperate Housewives while I post-nasal-dripped my way into a Sudafed-deprived funk. Then he provided the Sudafed, which I gleefully ingested, and let me play Final Fantasy XII until I went to bed.

Speaking of FFXII, finally offed that Nidhogg last night. It helps when everyone has Quickenings and you hit him with a chain of 5 after knocking him below half health. After that, I went to the little bridge area that is crawling with undead and killed them up to a nice big chain. Probably going to go back again tonight and chain some more in there to get more LP and Loot. If I'm really bored, I may stay there until I get enough money to get my first Grimoire off the Bazaar, but I doubt it. I'm pretty much ready to continue the storyline. Not sure if I'm ready to do the two Elite hunts that are available. I've picked them up, but I haven't chatted with the Petitioners yet. Prolly going to wait until the party fills up first.

Well, lunch time is almost over, so I'm going to wander off to get a beverage for the rest of the day and get back to work.
jdotmi: (Default)
Keith and I watched the season finale of HGTV's Design Star last night. Unsurprisingly, David (aka, the gay guy who hates wearing a shirt) won the competition. I'm sorta holding out hope they still give Alice some sort of show of her own, because she's really good as well.

The finale was a lot like the first episode. Started out sorta boring and uninteresting, but was good at the end. They had to do an hour of just chatting, basically, before announcing the winner at the end. And there was the entire "Price is Right" moment when the two finalists were given keys to brand new cars. That was sorta cheesy.

After we finished watching that we watched an episode of Designed to Sell which was very jarring because it was the Chicago cast (with their normal host on site and talking to the family), but Clive (who also hosted Design Star) was doing the "hosting" of the show. It was just flat out bizzare!

After TV time was done, I went on WoW and finished up the Fishing quest to be able to go to 300 Fishing. All that's left for Letalli is to max that out and get to 60. Still on track to have that done by the end of my vacation next week, provided I resist the urge to play other games. :-p Tonight is (hopefully) a pseudo-stealth/quick run through Blackrock Depths to get attuned for MC. One of our ally-type-guilds has some standing MC runs that are low on Druids, so I may join them on Monday evenings. I have no Fire Resist gear AT ALL, though, so that may just be a lesson in high repair bills. :-p

Well, lunch time is almost over and I must get back to work!
jdotmi: (Default)
Ugh! I so did not want to crawl out of bed this morning! x_x I tried to go to bed earlier last night than normal, but that sorta got derailed. I did get to bed earlier than the night before, but still.

Wound up just playing Civ IV and chatting last night. No Sims for me. Well, okay, we watched Bad Bad Bath on HGTV while making dinner, but still.

Woke up at about 6:10 this morning. Checked my bank account (we've had a tight couple of weeks) to make sure that my Booth paycheck went in. It did. So I gassed up my car this morning ($2.43 a gallon! I could almost convince myself that it's cheap again! [And for all those outside the US, I'm sorry your gas prices have always sucked in comparison, but mine haven't, so nyah! :p]). Since I woke up late, I also allowed myself to stop at McDonalds on my way in to work for an egg mcmuffin. I did still grab my lunch out of the freezer and brought that with me, though.

Got to work a few minutes late, but not late enough for it to count as a late. And now I'm working on fixing a problem in Australia.

So, I'm hoping today is a quiet day. I have a replacement server to install, but that should be relatively painless. And tonight I just want to chill out and relax.

Back to focusing just on work for now.
jdotmi: (Default)
World of Warcraft babbling. Cut for the uninterested. )

Today is the day school starts back up for [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi. I think he's alternating between ecstatic to finally be back in school and freaking out cuz, well, he's back in school. :-p The kitties are going to be so confused today. They'll be all alone for most of it! Tonight they'll have to put up with us watching TiVo, though. For a little while, anyway. I may get some WoW time in after we watch some HGTV, but not sure yet.

I can't believe I woke up early today. 6:00 rolled around and I was wide awake. Not happily wide awake, mind you, but I looked at my clock and said "Self? It's time to get up. Like, now." So, I got up. Like, then. It was kinda amazing. Had some new cereal we bought, took a shower, packed my lunch, fed the kitties. And I was out the door a good ten minutes earlier than normal. The brakes on my car decided to be annoying on the last stretch to work (one has started to grind, time for new ones!) but it wasn't anything major. I do need to get my front driver's side tire filled, though. It looks a teensy bit low.

Well, I need to wake up. Maybe I'll go buy a soda or something.
jdotmi: (pr0n)
I mentioned this show a few entries back, and haven't really commented on it since then. Still watching it, it's a lot of fun. I like all three finalists and am very very very happy that this past Sunday's loser was, well, finally the loser.

But, of course, far be it from me to be deep or meaningful in this post. Oh no. You see, after this past Sunday's episode something occurred to me.

Someone, somewhere, has written a David/Tym fanfic.

That is all.
jdotmi: (William)
Yesterday = Work. Too fucking hot, Design Star, City of Villains with [livejournal.com profile] margaras and [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi.

Today = Work. Rain! Storms! Not so fucking hot! No TV. Civilization IV: Warlords. Maybe some World of Warcraft. Actually, definitely some World of Warcraft. Need to check on Auctions and sort garbage out.

Tommorow = No Work! Video games! TV! Housework! NO WORK!

Work now, though.
jdotmi: (Default)
So, [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi and I did some TiVo catch-up last night. Our frantic WoW-Addictions have faded (he hasn't played in a week, I'm fine with playing an hour or two a night) so we can finally get back to the poor neglected TiVo before it goes homicidal on us and turns us into zombies. Anyrate, we watched some Get Color and deleted a repeat of Divine Design. We then watched HGTV's version of American Idol: HGTV's Design Star. The first 20 minutes dragged and were kinda lame, but then it got really good. The person we wanted booted got booted. Definitely something to keep watching. Too bad I'll be at work when it airs for the most part now. :-p

Never did get to take those screenshots last night in City of Villains. Going to try to remember to do that tonight. [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi got way more done in CoX than I did over the double XP weekend, so he still needs to show me all his new costumes. :-p

Anyrate, time to get to work.
