So, yeah. I've been decidedly unchatty on LiveJournal of late, so I figured I'd, well, not fix it but, ya know, pretend to care.

Um. I'm on vacation this week! So, yeah. Home all week. Uh. We joined Netflix finally. Now we just gotta find stuff to watch via the xbox on it. First two movies we had shipped to us were blu-ray's of Iron Man and The Dark Knight which we will probably watch at some point this week. Both WoW and CoX have 6 month subscriptions attached, too.

I beat Star Ocean 4 a week or so ago. Prolly more. But now I'm doing the bonus dungeons and the Arena. I sorta accidentally beat the final arena boss in under 5 minutes the first time I fought him, so I may be just a tad overlevelled. And I beat the first bonus dungeon end boss (first flavor) in under 10 minutes. I know this cuz there were Battle Trophies attached and all that. So yeah.

OH! I got WORMS for the Xbox! It's one of their downloadable games. [livejournal.com profile] dianak would be so amused. I am noting a distinct lack of holy hand grenades so far, though. :( And no carpet bombs.

[livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi is finally finishing up Battlestar Galactica. Tivo is very happy that he's getting done with all his shows on it. :-p

Well, that's all I got. Time to plan for tomorrow, what with it being our 11th anniversary and all that. (Yes, for real, yes, we are so amused by this.)
jdotmi: (Default)
Well, cable came back late last night. Much to my excitement. Spent the day with Battlestar Galactica, Legally Blonde: The Musical, and Civilization IV. Really. That was my day. Well that and cooking. And I may have watched an episode of Color Splash which was conveniently waiting on the Tivo.

Okay so I easily amused myself without internet. Bite me. :-p (Not an offer, [livejournal.com profile] eligrrl)

Now it's back to the daily grind at work. We're somewhat busy today, so I'm getting back to it now that lunch is over.
jdotmi: (Default)
So, yesterday, while paying off a late cable bill, I got talked into upgrading my cable service again. Faster internet and lots and lots of channels. My monthly bill? Went up by 50¢. Yeah.

We have on-demand already, but with our lack of knowing wtf happened to our real cable box remote, we have to play with the box to get it working. So, I went ahead and watched (free! woot!) the pilot episode of True Blood.

I had to tell myself within the first five minutes that the show was HBO and not SkinemaxCinemax. And while Ryan Kwanten isn't bad to look at (especially buck naked like he first shows up in the show), he also isn't great to look at (especially buck naked like he first shows up in the show). It's, uh, interesting to say the least.

Once the softcore porn scenes were over (and the ones that happened later, too), the show was pretty good. There are some issues in the pilot, obviously, but it looks pretty good so far. I'll be watching more over the weekend to get caught up and have added it to a seson pass on my TiVo.

I can see where some complaints on the show have come from. The responses are generally positive by critics, but it has some crazy yo-yoing going on in reviews. Some say it's brilliant, some say it sucks (and not in that Vampire slurpie kinda way), and some say it's somewhere in the middle. Most seem to lean towards good reviews with small nitpicks.

I know, I didn't post a single thing last week regarding my party (it was fun!) or what I did for the week following while I didn't have to be at work (other than a brief interruption on Tuesday when I had to go in to get my mid-year review).

Party was a success! [livejournal.com profile] margaras arrived quite unexpectedly, but we didn't complain! It was nice to see him again! And he got free monitors out of the visit. [livejournal.com profile] winterlady, [livejournal.com profile] bugfish, and kidlet came as expected, bearing gifts of fudge, pie, and a WoW time card! [livejournal.com profile] eligrrl and her boyfriend came. She even brought White Cheddar Cheez-its, which are one of the best snack foods EVER. [livejournal.com profile] oskaar arrived a bit later than everyone else, but it was nice to see him again, too. Non-LJ friend Steve also came over with his cheesy potatoes. And I made a vegetarian version of my crack-pasta dish despite [livejournal.com profile] fenwalker not making it after all. It came out great anyway, so I'm not complaining. Much. ;) We watched Jeff Dunham's Arguing with Myself, Clue, and Margaret Cho's I'm the One I Want.

The rest of last week was mostly low key. We went to have dinner at [livejournal.com profile] lilbearmi's place on Monday and watched The Producers (musical version). [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi's sister took us out to lunch at TGI Friday's on Monday, too. We also exchanged our Xbox360 (our second one, that stopped spinning discs) and they let us keep the hard drive from the old one AND we got a store credit since the price dropped $50 since we had bought it. It also came with Marvel Ultimate Alliance and Forza 2. Seeing as how we already owned the latter that was amusing. Later in the week we used that credit to nab Apartment Life for The Sims 2, and I picked up Spark of Insanity, which is the Jeff Dunham DVD I didn't yet have.

Yesterday, [livejournal.com profile] lilbearmi skipped out on going to Fest (due to this thing called hurricane remnants coating the entirety of Michigan in torrential rain and causing Fest to close early anyway) and visited us and we watched I'm the One I Want again and the .Tivo file I have of Legally Blonde: The Musical. And I made taco-beefy-cheddar-penne. Yes, it's as unhealthy as it sounds. Yes, it tastes as good as it sounds. The visit did prompt a manic "clean the apartment in under 90 minutes" event wherein we did exactly that. And then had a brief argument (okay, slightly more than brief and slightly more than an argument) about keeping up with the housework. Heh. Granted, this conversation tried to happen in the middle of my Virgo Moment™ and annoyed me. :-p But it was ultimately productive and we all felt much better after. :)

And, now, I'm back at work. And now I'm going to get back to it. My inbox is positively freaking out.

Since I'm a bum, I've been lax in posting. So, here's a list of things I'd love to post about, but since I'm a bum, I'm not.

  • City of Heroes and Villains
  • My love of TiVo
  • Xbox360 games to know and love
  • Battlestar Galactica pseudoaddictions
  • My freakish new love of cooking
  • Coupled with the shiny new deep skillet we bought that I've used three times since we bought it last weekend
  • The new Borders.com site
  • Getting my oil changed on my car
  • My kitty no longer peeing blood
  • A strong desire to get back into WoW
  • But finances still suck, so not so much
So, yeah.  That's a nice big list, eh?  Not so much with the posty of late.  Pretend there was content in the post.  :-p

Pushing Daisies was nominated for at least three Golden Globes including Best Series (Musical or Comedy), Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy (Anna Friel), and Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy (Lee Pace).

So totally deserves them all!
jdotmi: (Default)
We watched last night's Heroes today. Was pretty good, although spoiler ). I definitely hope the writer's strike ends soon so that we don't have to wait until next fall for Volume 3 to start up.

Sci-Fi seems to have stopped airing Bionic Woman. This is a problem, as I was starting to enjoy watching it. It's not the best show out by any standards, but we sorta have it pre-empted here in it's NBC slot due to [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi watching Private Practice. Ah well. We'll see what happens I suppose.

Issue 11 of City of Heroes launches tomorrow! So, don't expect me to do much else other than play it over the next few days. :p

Time to veg out for the rest of the night.
jdotmi: (Default)
This week, Heroes beat Pushing Daisies as my favorite show of the week. PD is still the best show on TV, but tonight's installment wasn't the grand slam the previous installments have been. Still a really damn good episode, though! I was a bit weirded out by the apparent change in the apartment complex that happened today, but maybe it was always like that and it just wasn't obvious. Oh well.

Going to go back to City of now. I'm a bit too addicted right now.
jdotmi: (Default)
Nothing particularly interesting to post today. Going to be watching Heroes and Pushing Daisies today. Dinner is going to be a teriyaki pork loin with rice, peas, and corn. The pork loin was rescued from [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi's sister, whose fridge decided to up and die on her. No fun there. Tomorrow, the household is going out to dinner with a friend to Zukey Lake Tavern, which I haven't been to in years. And at least [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi and I are going to the Museum of Natural History in Ann Arbor. He has to go there for his Biology class.

Next week is Thanksgiving, which means I'll be working next friday. Blech. Week after that, though, and our roomate starts his new job as well, so that'll be nice. I should talk to my supervisor about my schedule then, so that we can carpool and stuff.

Well, going to check on dinner. And watch TV.
jdotmi: (Default)
We watched Pushing Daisies last night. Still the best show on TV. And it had a Halloween theme! Well, Halloween and horse racing. o_O One of the guest starts played Geroge's grandmother on Dead Like Me, and I recognized her. So that was pretty cool. And I thought I had the mystery pegged within the first 15 minutes, but there was a twist I wasn't expecting, but I did figure it out before the reveal, at least. I do actually have one complaint about the episode. They did some weird things that were somewhat obvious with perspective in order to make one character look much taller. Unfortunately, because the scenes also included Kristen Chenoweth, who is quite short in reality, it was really obvious what they had done to trick the eye.

I did play a bit of City of Villains last night. Got my dominator to 9. Now to get him to 10 so he can found a Villain Group. He's not easy to solo with, due to a significant lack of burst damage right now, but he's Fire/Fire and is (eventually) going to be very very scary. Did some Trick or Treating as well. Have until Sunday to finish that up. Guess I'm doing trick-or-treat marathons this weekend.

That's all I've got for now. OH! I started reading the expanded version of Four and Twenty Blackbirds by [livejournal.com profile] cmpriest last night. I have both editions of the book and have read the original, but not this version. Even though I've owned it for, um, two years. Heh. My original edition is signed and all that jazz. Now I just need to pick up the two sequels to the book.
jdotmi: (Default)
I slept like a log last night, but I'm still really freaking tired today.

Issue 11 is now open on the Test server for City of Heroes/Villains. I made a Dual Blades/Willpower Stalker to test with. Definitely going to make one for real when it goes live. Didn't get to play it much because I'm still recovering from the weekend. Heh. So is [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi. We both want to nap for like a week or something. :-p Anyrate, I'm like the new sets. If it weren't for the Halloween event going on right now I'd test it more, but I need to collect some costume salvage. Especially Villainside if we wind up leaving The Cadre of Doom and Cookies and forming our own Villain Group.

New Heroes last night. Not sure if we'll watch it tonight or tomorrow. I still need to watch last week's meta episode of Smallville. I mean, come on, an episode about shooting a comic book movie at the farm and the rabid online fans who are like "OMG YOU CHANGED THINGS FROM THE BOOK!!!" and all the other fandom people who are like "What are you, new?" Cuz, ya know, internet fans never have anything to snark about at length with that show or anything. On the plus side, all signs point to it actually being a decent episode to watch.

Anyrate, work to do. Must hop to it.

Wikipedia is scary. The article for Leet is really freakishly long. And the article for Lunch Money is depressingly short. And the article for .999... makes me giggle uncontrollably.

It's friday! Yay!

I got nothin'.

Pushing Daisies from this week cracked me up so much. Olive really is a sweet girl, even if she's a bit psychotic. And it was great to see Charlie from Heroes (and Ugly Betty) on the show, too. She needs to get a regular show for herself soon.
jdotmi: (Default)
Just got done watching this week's Pushing Daisies. Definitely still the best show on TV right now. :) Plus, ya know, Kristen Chenoweth and Ellen Greene doing a They Might Be Giants duet. Which is apparently now stuck in [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi's head. Hehe.

In 35 minutes or so I shall have tasty freshy bread to eat. :) It needs to cook faster. :)

Tomorrow is Friday. This is good. We have a hotspare. That is not so good. x_x I'm hoping I'm not having to deal with it while on the road to Kalamazoo, cuz that'd really suck.

Okay, going to go play some City of Heroes (prolly Villains, actually) while I wait for bread. Mmmm. Bread.
jdotmi: (Default)
Despite yesterday evening feeling far later than it was, we did wind up clearing a lot of things out of Tivo yesterday. Heroes was good, although [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi is getting tired of the lack of actual answers to questions that are coming up, because in all honesty some things actually do deserve answers, even if it's not a resolution. That was the only non HGTV show we watched last night, though, but we cleared out like 6 episodes of stuff based on things we'd already seen or things we watched last night.

I thought it was like 9 or 9:30. It was 7:30. O_o My brain was confused.

Dinner last night was very tasty. Cooked up some rice, made a white sauce with chicken seasonings and onion powder, mised in some actual chicken, peas, carrots, corn, and some cheddar cheesed. Baked it all together and it was very yummy.

Dinner tonight will probably be less entertaining. Either pasta or, well, pasta.

Today at work we get free lunch from a vendor! I already had a sandwich I brought with me which wouldn't survive until tomorrow anyway, so I ate it anyway. :-p I may grab a small sandwich from the lunch here, though.
jdotmi: (Default)
I re-watched "Pie-lette" last night on ABC's website. For those not in the know, that's the name of the premier episode of Pushing Daisies. Totally feel good television. I stand by my thought that it's the best thing on TV this season.

Hopefully watching Heroes tonight. Depends on how [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi is feeling.

Need to do ToT'ing in City of Heroes/Villains. I've got a lot of characters to get badges and costumes and whatnot for. Plus it'll be nice to restock my SG bases with costume salvage bits.

Trying to decide what I want to make for dinner. I'm thinking I'm going to make the pot-pie-esque chicken and rice dish again, because that was damn good the first time. Might make a loaf of bread to use for breakfasts for the rest of the week, too.
jdotmi: (Kung Ru)
Today was a marginal improvement over yesterday.

Three people go through food very very quickly.

Bionic Woman wasn't that great of an episode this week. I mean, the fights were cool, and some story advancement happened, but I'm tired of watching Jaime make stupid mistake every week. And not just stupid mistakes, mind bogglingly stupid mistakes. Still, fight scenes were cool, Sarah's story progressing was cool. It's just that one mind bogglingly stupid mistake that is bugging me. I am enjoying the small call backs to the original show, though.

Must go play City of Heroes some more. Psychademica (who I still haven't taken pictures of) is almost 14.
jdotmi: (Shower Fresh)
This is me making a pseudo-fluff post so that I don't miss a day this month. :-p

Watched Smallville tonight. It wasn't bad, but there are parts that really just sorta dragged out.

My roomates need to quit fighting before I smack them both with kittens.

Dinner tonight tasted really good. Except now I have pot-pie afteraste, and it wasn't even pot-pie. o_O

I'm way too tired to still be awake.

Keeping my fingers crossed as [livejournal.com profile] carebear_flare has more interviews for potential permanent jobs on Monday.

It's finally cooling down enough that we may actually use the heat that I had to stay home for a day this week to make sure got turned on. :-p

My stomach is growling. I'm not even remotely hungry, so I don't know what it's problem is.

Psychademica, my Mind/Empathy Controller on Virtue, needs to have pictures taken and posted. I really like her costume and backstory. It's got just enough cheese and glitter.

I'm gonna go play City of Heroes now.
jdotmi: (Default)
Downloaded the Legally Blonde musical to my PC so we can burn it to DVD for [livejournal.com profile] carebear_flare since he's the one who recorded it on Tivo. Freed up 3 hours on the Tivo. Then we actually sat down and watched some of our shows. Heroes (which was great except for the whole Maya is a total retard bit) and Pushing Daisies (which is the best show on television right now). We also watched Property Virgins. There's not much to say about that show. If you like House Hunters, you may like this. It's a single realtor showing all the people around, and she gives them advice and tells the audience exactly what the people are doing wrong.

Well, time to focus back on work.
jdotmi: (Default)
I have become addicted to making white sauces. Dinner tonight will be chicken with a white sauce and a little bit of pasta on the side. And some green beans as a side dish, too. Not that I'll eat the green beans, but everyone else in the apartment will, so it's all good.

Need to make grocery list for the weekend.

Need to watch Tivo. We have too many shows on it right now.

That is all.
jdotmi: (Default)
Today was a complete waste of time for me. The gas company got here at like 2pm. So, I spent the morning watching season 1 of Battlestar Galactical, Playing City of Villains, and grumbling at the weather (which is shitty today). Can't wait to get back to work tomorrow.

Hopefully, we'll catch up on Tivo this week. I say this since we now have two episodes of Chuck languishing on there and barring [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi having a fit of inspiration on his programming project, we ain't watching Heroes tonight. Or anything that is being recorded tonight for that matter.

I think I'm gonna go play some City Of now. Make a new toon or seven.
