Wacky Pirateness
So, I think I may have scared
tetsubun_otaku last night.
I started singing songs from The Pirates of Penzance non-stop.
Over instant messenger.
I then left to watch it. :-p I have a DVD of a theater production of it with Kevin Kline, Linda Rondstadt, and Rex Smith. Ruth isn't played by Angela Lansbury, though. Most of the rest of the cast is the same as the movie version. Even the police guy person. Thankfully the Major General was the same guy!! Well, I think the sisters are different... And some of the pirates...
So there's my piratey thing of the day.
Great show. Hope they release the movie movie version of it on DVD. Want it. Now would be good.

Our Ruth was a true Contralto. She actually sang a lot of her stuff an octave lower than written. :-p It was really weird.
We got all sorts of props from the UofM G&S Society. Swords, hats, set stuff. It was great. They came to our show and told our Mabel she could sing with them anytime. Of course, after high school she started chain smoking and totally trashed her voice, but oh well. She sounds incredible in the show!

Let me see if I recall this correctly: first time you see cops, they're tenors & baritones. Then the pirates come out & have all the tenors, with the baritones remaining as cops. Or something like that. Oy. I like G&S, but all I know is it's fun. :)

The music is written to have both Tenors and Bass/Baritones for cops and pirates both.
