Yegads... what a way to end the week.

So, I didn't go to work on Thursday. Gotta love freaking out because of one of the cats. :-p

Wednesday night, Daniel apparently decided he wanted to freak everyone out/bleed all over everything, and bit into a sore that had developed inside his upper lip. This sore was freaking huge, and it bled quite profusely. [livejournal.com profile] carebear_flare first noticed it on the case for Final Fantasy X, and then we found the cat walking around with a huge glob of blood dripping from his chin.

He was jealous because we were playing Vampire. That had to be it.

Anyrate, I promptly freaked out, yet oddly managed to remain semi-calm. Looked up an emergency animal clinic online, called them, said "My cat is bleeding at the mouth." "Oh we can definitely see him tonight!", dragged the now terrified kitty into a cat carrier, and left the apartment. Got him looked at, learned about said ulcer in his mouth, got him a cortisone shot and some antibiotics, went home, and promptly called in to work since there was no way in hell I was letting the cat go 24 hours without my constant/obsessive supervision.

We locked the cat in the bathroom because he had managed to bleed in every room of the apartment. Thank god for Resolve carpet cleaner, although I do still have a spot in my bedroom that needs a few more applications of it. Each time it brings up more and more blood, so the stuff is working at least.

The kitty is doing okay. I'm pampering him and giving him wet food once a day. And he doesn't seem to hate his antibiotics. That may be because he's associating them with food time now. :-p I do tend to feed him immediately after drugging him. :-p

But, yeah. That was one more stress I so did not need this week. ~_~

Oh no! I hope he's ok!
Be careful of the food bribes, though. My mom was doing that for one cat, then felt bad and started giving the other cats food at the same time. They used to just eat whenever, but now they always wake her at 6 am for treats.

Well, med time is at his regular food time, so I've got it timed. :-p They get fed when I wake up in the morning and when I get home from work. That's when I drug the kitty. They already wake me up in the morning. :-p

I'm glad to hear your kitty is doing well. I'm sorry he's hurt.

As for the carpet - try some plain soda water first before using resolve. The carbonation in the soda water will lift the stain OFF the carpet fibers to the top of the carpet. Then you dab - then see if you need any more resolve.

We don't have soda water. And the Resolve does the same thing. We have the high-traffic foam. It works like a charm. The spots that have needed multiple applications are the places where he sat for a while with blood dripping.

Poor kitty! I'm glad he's getting the treatment he needs , though, and I'm sure he'll be okay.

Poor [livejournal.com profile] jdotmi! I'm glad your kitty is getting the treatment he needs so that you'll be okay, too!

Getting blood out of carpet. If I could count the times I've had to get blood out of carpet! Blood blood blood! Hahahaah! Eh.. I mean... um.. nothing! Everything's fine! Ahahah! heh! Move along....
