Superman Returns

satyr_mi and I went and saw Superman Returns this afternoon.

Sequel. NOW. Mean it!

This movie was a complete homage to the Richard Donner Superman. There are beats throughout the film that play directly to beats in the first movie, and yet it manages to completely reinvent the character of Superman for the big screen. The humor is on, the drama is on, the action is on. It does have some cheeseball moments (and many of them were in teaser trailers for the movie) and it has some really emotional moments.

No spoilers. First for me. I won't even mention my favorite part, unless someone asks, so the comments may be totally spoiler heavy.

But I think what everyone really wants to know is: was the airbrushing successful?

Oh there's a package to behold, regardless of any potential airbrushing (which is currently being officially denied. :-p).

I saw it in imax today. it was great, but they really chose the wrong scenes to make 3-d. i think i would have rather saved a few bucks and saw the normal release.

We saved more than a few: normal and matinee pricing!

But then we bought soda and snacks. ~_~
