So today was my first day of vacation where I was home alone. [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi had work again, so I got the place all to myself. Well, myself and two yowling kitties. Daniel was insistent something was wrong because I was home. He eventually calmed down and went to sleep for a few hours. I spent the day with Sims and minor housework. Sim for a couple hours, do dishes. Sim for a couple hours, clean the living room. Sim for a couple hours, vacuum. Sim for a couple hours, make dinner.

Now I'm gonna go Sim for a couple hours.

So, [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi decided I needed to step away from my Sims long enough to make cheesecake cookies tonight. I decided to make them chocolate cheesecake cookies. Time will tell if it was a success or not! Well, actually, tomorrow morning will tell.

In other news, Kitties are very happy that I bought them more food, seeing as how we were totally out of dry food. William was so happy that he ate too much and upchucked yet again. Stupid cat. :-p

I did not stay up last night to watch the ball drop on TV or anything special. After all, I had work today. Managed to get to bed before midnight, but didn't fall asleep until after. Maybe I shoulda kept watching TV anyway. Oh well.

Woke up this morning, since I had work and what not, to a kitty (William) snuggling up and demanding pettings. This was of the good. So he got his pettings for a bit, and then I got ready for work. That part was not so much of the good.

I stopped at McDonalds on the way in to work. THEY WERE NOT OPEN. So, now I'm sitting here with no breakfast, no caffeine and no patience. Great way to start 2010. Really, it is.

On the plus side, we've had all of 16 calls this morning. And we're fully staffed. Maybe not so much with the plus side, then.

Well, off I go back to see what stores are actually awake yet. And try to not gnaw the arms off of co-workers for lack of breakfast foodage.

Since [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi has started working here at Borders, I've been spending my entire lunch hour in the cafeteria with him and [livejournal.com profile] rubicontiger. Today he and I decided to head back to our desks and read (or browse) after eating instead of sitting there trying to strain to read the closed captioning on CNN Headline News. ([livejournal.com profile] rubicontiger had to leave early today)

Apparently, I make really good gravy. It's completely faked (make a roux, add chicken broth, salt n pepper, and seasonings, stir) but it's tasty at least. We've had mashed potatoes and gravy twice in the past two weeks, and I think if we weren't out of potatoes we'd be doing it again tonight. I suppose I could do rice and it might work with the gravy. Actually, I think I just decided dinner. Not rice-n-gravy, but chicken and rice somewhat stew style. Gotta use up the veggies somehow.

Employee Appreciation is just around the corner. Looking forward to getting my Christmas shopping done then. I'll actually be able to do Christmas shopping this year, unlike last year. Heh.

Spent $60 yesterday at the vet for cat food. x_x Should last a month, at least, but still. That's a lot of money for cat food! The kitties like it, though, and Daniel hasn't had any more problems, so I'm not complaining too much.

Well, I'm gonna get back to that browsing thing for the rest of my lunch.

Okay, so, like, yesterday I was supposed to be all good and domestic and make my apartment more presentable for everyone showing up on Saturday (which is now a scary number of people, I'm just sayin') and I did very very little of it.

If any of y'all see me online tonight before 10pm eastern time, tell me to go clean my house. :-p Seriously. It shouldn't take me more than two hours to get everything presentable, and I know there are things I'll be doing tomorrow when I get home and I'll do my vacuuming Saturday morning, but still.

Someday I shall have to kill [livejournal.com profile] rubicontiger. Really. He got me addicted to something that should not be named. IT IS ENTIRELY HIS FAULT. I may be gay, but I'm not THAT gay.

Anyrate. Monday I'll take the Xbox in and be all "OH HAI, REPAIR PLZ don't lose my saved games".

I'm ready for my vacation now. Really.

Apparently Daniel does not like being off his meds. Or off his food. One of the two. *sigh*

Holy crap I haven't posted in forever. Um. I've been busy? Well, okay, I've been playing Blue Dragon and Civilization IV and Sims 2 a lot.

Kitty (Daniel) is doing much much better. I think he likes his medication and fancy expensive (prescription) cat food. Sadly, the other cat likes the food, too, and convincing him to eat his food is hard. Stupid cat.

There are a few games coming out or that have come out that I want. I want Civilization: Revolution for the 360 for no good reason. I've played the Demo a lot. It's basically Civ-Lite, but for some reason I want it anyway. I know it's not anything I'd play a lot of, either, so I'm definitely not going out of my way to get it. I also downloaded the demos for Too Human (DO WANT) and Tales of Vesperia (probably want). Interesting games. Too Human is the game that Hellgate: London should have been (engine wise and the feel of the controls, at least).

On Saturday, we went to the Woodward Dream Cruise and watched an assortment of classic and not so classic cars drive by. The sad thing was all of the ones driving by with "For Sale" signs in their windows. -_- There was a Batmobile in the style of the 1960's TV show, which was pretty cool, and way too many variations of like three different styles of car. Don't ask me, I'm not the car guy. :-p Either way, fun was had, food was eaten, people were visited. The party we went to was hosted by some friends and there were around 20 to 30 people there all told. Spent too much time playing Wii games after getting bored with the cars, too. Heh.

Well, I got a lot of work done this morning and have more to get working on, so I'm going to go do that now.
jdotmi: (Default)
The cat decided to grace the Vet with a urine sample all over her exam table. Lots of bacteria and she found some crystals (which means stones). Pretty much what everyone expected. He's back on his happy pills again and he has prescription cat food. Seriously. Shit is EXPENSIVE!

Played a bunch of Sims 2 last night. Really. Maybe too much of it. But it's okay, I'll survive. ;)

Hmm. What else. First day back to work was pretty good. Played catch-up with email, had everyone tell me how much they missed me, and realized that the servers will never ever let me escape.

Well, time to go make lunches for today and warn [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi that the kitties are being little shits when it comes to actually eating. :-p

Time to go back to work! I had a good vacation, not that anyone here could tell due to my entire lack of posting, but hey.

Went to a party last weekend, painted my kitchen, watched some TV, played some Sims 2, played some Hellgate London, played some EverQuest 2, played some City of Heroes. And the week seemed so so so long. Now I'm ready to go back to work. Amazing what a good vacation will do for that!

Design Star had the final design last night. I'm voting for Jen all the way. I'd watch either of their shows, but Jen's room was the most well done and Matt's seemed to have some holes in the wall (???) and an outlet plate missing in the living room/closet.

In not so happy news, my cat Daniel has decided to bleed again while urinating. We think he's just got something clogging him up like a stone. I'm calling the vet this morning to set up an appointment.

Well, time to get ready to head out the door!
jdotmi: (Shower Fresh)
Since I'm a bum, I've been lax in posting. So, here's a list of things I'd love to post about, but since I'm a bum, I'm not.

  • City of Heroes and Villains
  • My love of TiVo
  • Xbox360 games to know and love
  • Battlestar Galactica pseudoaddictions
  • My freakish new love of cooking
  • Coupled with the shiny new deep skillet we bought that I've used three times since we bought it last weekend
  • The new Borders.com site
  • Getting my oil changed on my car
  • My kitty no longer peeing blood
  • A strong desire to get back into WoW
  • But finances still suck, so not so much
So, yeah.  That's a nice big list, eh?  Not so much with the posty of late.  Pretend there was content in the post.  :-p
jdotmi: (William)
No, not the kitty in my icon, my other kitty. You know, the one that began peeing blood a'la Margaret Cho in I'm the One That I Want. Anyway, he had one bit of bloody urine issues on Monday, after we ran out of anti-biotics. So I took a half day at work yesterday and we dragged him to the vet.

The good? He hasn't had another issue since that one issue sometime Monday.

The bad? He REALLY disliked it when she checked his bladder. I've never heard him make those noises.

The meh? He's on more drugs. Pills now, but they're once a day and he seems like a happy kitty again. He's not dragging litter throughout the house anymore, and he's not trying to pee in the sinks or in the kitty beds or in OUR beds. We think he's better, but he's going to be on these things for about 20 days just to make sure.

In other news, Costco is scary. I spent $200 there last week. Granted, we won't be buying anything major there again for, oh, at least a month. Seriously. We've got like three weeks worth of chicken in our fridge, two weeks worth of beef. Which all in all makes probably a month's worth of meat for a month. We'll need to buy lunchmeat (we were still using a previous trips lunch meat this week), but that's it. Well, and milk.

Oh, and they have Salmon patties there that are pretty decent. Those will keep for a couple weeks, too.

So, yeah. $200 once a month or $65 every week, which is around where we were averaging. Considering this trip included a huge supply of cleaners and kitty litter I'd say we made out like bandits.

So, I know, I'm only posting about my cat lately. :-p Deal.

Daniel was fine all weekend. Basically, from the time we got him home to the time I got up this morning he didn't complain once or anything. Fed him this morning, and then he decided to have issues. Little bit of spotting (on a white under-shirt of mine, and there appeared to be blood) and very little attempts at spotting after he came out of the litter box. It wasn't as bad as it had been, but after two days of perfectly normal kitty behavior it was a bit upsetting. He was happily staring out the window when I left for work this morning, so we'll see how the week of double dosed meds progresses.

Took Daniel to the vet. Turns out he still has a fever (103.5, up from 101 which is what it should be). So, more anti-biotics. Twice the dosage of before, at that. They gave him another shot today, and he's now currently staring out my window from my currently naked bed (my sheets/blanket are being washed). I really really really hope the double dose of antibiotics does the trick.

On an unrelated note, dinner was very tasty tonight. Made a white sauce, added 2/3 of a cup of tomato sauce, some italian seasonings, and a cup of cheddar cheese. Cooked up two chicken breasts and diced them up and some pasta. Very very tasty.

We're home, Daniel's cranky and snoozing. He got a shot of antibiotics and we got some more antibiotics to give him for the next week. No blockate, so just a urinary tract infection. He was kind enough to bleed on the kitty weighing machine while we were there. -_- So at least we didn't have any doubt as to whether there had been blood in his urine. He had a slight fever, but the doctor said he'll be fine.

So, my cat Daniel ([livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi has a picture of him in his user icons) decided to have some sort of blockage or something making him not able to urinate correctly. And we think we saw some blood come out. So we're taking him to the vet today. He's been pretty chatty, especially if you pick him up, so I'm guessing he's really displeased with the situation. :p

Of course, this means he's also tried to pee everywhere. And he gets out very little at a time, so we have all these spots on our bed sheets and in piles of dirty laundry that hadn't yet made it into the wash. ~_~ And on our bath mats. At least he isn't tending to do it on the carpet (although he has a couple times).

Vet is at 8:45. I was totally freaked out about it earlier, but now I think he'll be fine. he just is going to hate getting put in the cat carrier. :p

So, last night as I was leaving the weekend job, I got a bit melancholy (why?????) since it was probably the last time I'd be in that particular building. And while I was very excited to go home and go to bed, I was kinda bummed out, too. Anyrate, I get in my car and leave the garage and the first song on the radio comes up as... well, I'd give [livejournal.com profile] zute69 one guess as to what song it was, but I'd have to explain more to everyone else. Needless to say, it improved my drive home considerably purely for nostalgic reasons. Ahh. Good ol' gaming days!

So, I got home and was all excited to go to bed... and discovered that my cat had decided to upchuck all over my freshly washed comforter and carpet. >_< He pretty much puked up everything he ate yesterday, so we were worried, but I noticed he hadn't puked at all overnight, and I know he ate cuz his food dish was empty. So we'll see how he is today.

Back to work I go!
jdotmi: (Default)
It's Shadowrun weekend, which means I gamed on Saturday and then came to work at midnight. This means I am now very very tired.

[livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi and I traded in our old cell phones for some camera phones. I have, of course, had way too much fun with the camera portion of the phone. Now just need to find a non-expensive way to get the pictures off the phone and onto my computer. :-p Why, yes, I do have a digital camera I could use instead of the phone, but what's the fun in that? I have some really cute kitty pictures on the camera. And some pictures of [livejournal.com profile] margaras, who wants the pictures. Tried getting some of [livejournal.com profile] lilacmoon5, but sticking a camera in her face is grounds for murder apparently. :-p

I've been drinking coffee tonight. It's not helping the tired bit. :-p Well, correction. It helped while I was drinking it. Then, when I stopped, I was like "zzzzzzzzzzzzzznrk zzzzzzzzzz" and it was bad.

I ate way too much junk throughout the day. We wound up ordering pizza for gaming dinner, but I only had two slices before being full. Of course, having eaten nothing but cookies and two chicken sandwiches and potato chips and CrackSnack (aka puppy chow in most recipe books, although [livejournal.com profile] lilacmoon5 made it with Crispix as opposed to Chex) all day means that my stomach is on strike against the lack of real food.

I've now watched Rent five times since buying it Wednesday night. And I've listened to the movie soundtrack twice through, not counting the play time in my car.

Going back to the food thing... I am just now finally getting hungry again. Which means I'll be starving by the time I get home. This does not bode well. Maybe I'll cook up a chicken sandwich or something.

Too much food. Too much Sims 2. Too much Angel.

...

Scratch that. No such thing as too much Angel.

One of my cats, Daniel, has mouth sores again. [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi took him to the vet yesterday and got him checked and got him drugs. He's a happy kitty, just, ya know, getting drugged on a daily basis now. :-p Apparently he'll get these sores periodically for the rest of his life. It's okay, they don't seem to bother him right now and he hasn't bit them and caused them to bleed. Hopefull in about a week this set will be gone and he'll be the old happy purry kitty we know and love. Mind you, he's still happy and purry, just with a huge honking nasty looking sore on the left side of his face.

Work has been interesting this week. New upgrade to our case tracking application went in, which leads to new bugs to find and destroy of course. Nothing that has broken our ability to work, mind you, mostly just cosmetic glitches or typos that need fixed. There are some bizzaro-land occurances with it, but I suspect they'll all be cleaned up within a week or two tops. I'm glad it's Thursday, at least, since tomorrow is my only real day off for the entire week, as usual. :-p

[livejournal.com profile] carebear_flare should (hopefully) be coming over today. [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi has a game idea he wants to run which sounds interesting. Well, okay, it sounds interesting when it's not 11:30 at night and all I want to do is sleep, but it still sounds interesting. We'll see what happens, though.

Anyrate. Back to work for me.
jdotmi: (Shower Fresh)
Kitty!
Poor Daniel. He really tries to be a nice non-problematic kitty. Sadly, he has very long fur (part Maine Coon) and therefore gets really big hairballs. Around 3:30 am or so this morning, one of said hairballs decided to eject itself upon our couch. I cleaned it up, but we need to wash the cushion covers now.

Sleep?
Yes, I was awake at around 3:30 this morning. Only long enough to get a drink of water and clean up a hairball the size of a small third world country. The past few nights I keep waking up randomly in the middle of the night and then falling back asleep. It's getting kind of annoying.

Kombat!
We decided to keep Mortal Kombat: Deception for a few more days as the game has grown on us both. I'm enjoying it and whatnot. It's cheap to keep it for five more days anyway. Cheaper than renting it again anyway. :-p We will probably wind up buying it, but we actually need money for that and all.

Money...
Speaking of, we really have none at the moment. And I mean that in the most literal of senses. As in, I don't know how all the bills this month are getting paid on time. In fact, I'm 99% certain that some bills will not be paid on time this month because there just isn't the money for it. It's not the end of the world. Taxes have been done and need sending. I'm going to try to find a place that will let me e-file my state taxes. After all, that is where my actual refund is coming from. I owe the Feds again this year, but the State more than makes up for it. That tends to happen when you pay twice as much in State taxes as you actually owe throughout the year.

D&D
Want Complete Arcane. Need to download the 3.5 updates for a few other books and print them out. I've been doing incredibly short write-ups of Deities from my campaign world. Incredibly short in the Name, Alignment, Portfolio, Domains sense. I have some more detailed information on some of them elsewhere, and this is really just a first pass, but it's progress at least. I've got things planned out for long term goals for the game, but I need a few more short term goals in place to get things rolling. I hope to have a few more choices for the players in the next session. A few things they can choose to do. None of which is particularly urgent, or, at least, that seems particularly urgent at the time.

Oohhh things just clicked in brain. Must write down so I don't forget them. ^_^

And, now, it's time to do some work.
jdotmi: (Default)
Happy belated birthday to [livejournal.com profile] badbob! Yeah yeah, I'm never on time for anything lately. :-p

This update is going to be long... Very long. Especially seeing as how I want to catch up for not doing any regular posting in, what, one or two months now? My posts on my main page (of which there are 15) stretch back to November for crying out loud!

Let's start with New Year's Day and all that jazz. 2004 is officially gone. )

Now for some gaming stuff. Well, gaming of the console and computer variety. )

And now for tabletop gaming! )

Keith bought me Season 7 of Buffy as a pseudo-Christmas present this year. After generally pseudo-freaking over the expenditure of money we may or may not have actually had to spend, I got over it and was very happy to have it. )

Well, I think that about covers it for me. Two hours to write an update. Imagine that!
