So, I'm in a video game kick again. This is partially problematic. Lately, when I get in video game kicks I wind up playing a little bit of twenty different games and not getting anything done in any of them.
So, here's my current list of games I'm "playing" (or at least think I am).
Final Fantasy XIII have this bad habit with this series. I buy the game, play it for a week or a week and a half, get 1/2 to 2/3 done, and then stop. For a year. Or more. I think in this case it was an "or more" situation. Normally I start over from the beginning when I get back into the game. Not this time. I picked up my save game right where I left off. So far, I play this puppy once or twice a week for about two hours at a time. Everyone's currently in their 50's and has tons of License Points. I'm sorta at a point where getting additional LPs is pointless until I advance the story some more and can buy the abilities and items that are unlocked, but hey. I had gone on a Hunt Club / Rare Game / Esper spree prior to stopping, so I was finishing up that when I got back to the game.
The only game in this series that I haven't pulled the above stunt with in recent history is
Final Fantasy X-2, which I got
100% completion on in one play through. Of course, this means that there is an entire story branch that I did not see (you can't get 100% if you go down that branch), but still. Not bad at all, although quite time consuming. Especially the hours spent in the Lady Luck dressphere gaining double XP.
Beautiful KatamariSo, we just got our Xbox360 back. Or, rather, we got a new one. See, our old one died in the "OH HAI, I B0RK UR VID3O" sort of way. So we returned it to Best Buy and got credit to get a new one. We had moved all of our save games and downloads (except for Forza and Viva Pinata, which were too large) via
satyr_mi's sister's son's memory card (how many of those 's did I really need? anyone know?). Oh, and apparently the day after we moved everything back to our new machine, their machine said "OH HAI! RRoD!!" and we went "phew!" and stuff. So, anyway, this ties in to the Katamari story, honest.
So we get our downloads moved over and... they don't work. Okay, okay, don't panic. Let's look it up. Oh! We can transfer licenses from one machine to another once per year. Phew! Lucky! Do that. What? Still nada? Oh, re-download all that shit again? Well, it's already on the drive, so just do that to be safe. Took next to no time since we had the files. Now all our games are shiny and happy.
Well, other than Viva Pinata, which it's not like I had successfully acquired a Galagoogoo for my garden or anything, thus completing my collection of every single Pinata in the game. Nor had I maxed out my Xbox LIVE achievement points for the game or anything.SO, yeah. I played two of the downloaded stages which I had never played before and they were fun and so I'll probably finish those up and try to get the rest of the cousins and presents at some point. And try to get more than 9 points at the Seadome, which is the WORST LEVEL EVER.
The Sims 2It's not like this needs much explanation. We have the most recent expansion, granted another is coming out in like three weeks. It's Sims! They're fun! And dumb! And can be made to do silly things with little effort! Plus, killing them can be amusing. Mostly, I make them go to work, make friends, have freakish affairs, go to school, and whatnot. This one I play pretty much anytime I wind up in front of my computer at home and don't play something else. Which is either a lot or never (I've rarely had time this week).
Civilization IVI really got into this when it came out, then lost interest, then the first expansion came out which was okay, but didn't keep my interest nearly long enough. The second expansion was a lot of fun, though. Again, didn't keep my attention long though. Now I've been playing it more than I've played Sims 2 lately. Heh. I keep restarting games and not finishing them, though. Ah well. I'm enjoying myself. :)
Blue DragonI sorta pulled that thing I do with the
Final Fantasy series with this game. I bought it, played it for a week, didn't even get past disk 1, and then stopped. I just restarted it yesterday.
There are more that I'm going to be playing again soon, but that's all that is currently on my plate.
Mass Effect and
Phantasy Star Universe and
Star Ocean: Til the End of Time and
Final Fantasy IX are on the list of games I want to play. The only one of those I finished was
Mass Effect, so that tells you something there.
