It's about freakin' time
FINALLY. My shiny new Alienware computer has shipped. Granted, FedEx has no idea what I'm talking about when I plug in the tracking number, but Dell swears it shipped and will arrive on the 23rd. 19 days after I ordered it. Okay, okay, 14 business days. Still. Last one we ordered? Had it in 5 business days. For real.
I, uh, might be sick next Tuesday. I'm just sayin'....

Oh hai! I upgraded ur computerz!
So, here's the scary list of components in the new computer I ordered.
Pruned list, of course. Cuz, really, who wants to know that I didn't get a monitor with it?
Of course, the only real problem is the estimated delivery date of 3/9/2010...

Tax refunds? Posted! Check for the back bills the roomie owes us? Depositing it tonight!
Shiny new computer ordered? Oh yes. Granted, they say it won't be done until MARCH, but it's ordered. And I'm hoping that it's done faster.
I'd post the specs, but I left them at home.

Apparently I only post when there is bad news lately. :-p
My computer finally gave up the ghost and died last night. I had been able to get it to boot up by unplugging the power, popping the case, removing the CMOS battery, holding the power button for 10 seconds, putting the battery back in, closing the case, plugging it back in, and holding the power button for 5 to 15 seconds.
Now it just blinks at me mockingly.
And, yes, I discovered the above fix on Dell's support forums from several other users with the exact same problem I was having. Dell apparently has no clue what causes it, but replacing the power supply or motherboard typically "fixes" it for a while.
I'm getting my tax refunds in a few days. Do you really think I'm buying a mobo or power supply for a computer that was bought as a refurb 2.5 years ago? Yeah, no.
In happier news, my 360 (3rd 360) works beautifully, and Mass Effect 2 is still awesome, so I'm gonna keep playing that for a while.

After getting out of work yesterday, I went to join ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
satyr_mi at our friend's place where we partook in a new hottub, which was nice but it was way too cold out, and had a weird (but good) fake chicken (vegetarian) dinner. We also watche District 9, which was awesome (but not while eating) and one of the Futurama movies. "Bender's Big Game" I believe was the name. Either way, hillarious movie and well worth watching again. We wound up staying out way too late, so when we got home I had the munchies, which I took care of, and then promptly passed out (around 2am) until the kitties decided it was time for me to feed them at 7am. I was not amused.
In other news, my computer is dying a slow, apparently commonplace, death. It doesn't like turning on unless I disconnect everything, pop out the CMOS batter, and beat it with a dead chicken a few times. Apparently the symptom (yellow flashing power light) can mean the CMOS battery is going, the power supply is going, or the motherboard is going. Gotta love highly specific symptoms like that, eh? Well, when we get our taxes completed we'll use the money that doesn't pay off my old dell bill to buy me a new computer methinks.
Well, back to destroying the lives of Sims now.
