So, this weekend, what with the virus scare yesterday, and a lot of other things today, has pretty much been shot for online gaming. This is especially annoying as City of Heroes had a free weekend this weekend which pretty much guaranteed that in the not too distant future I will be renewing my account. The thing is, it wasn't quite enough to kick me out of my WoW habit. So it's going to have to wait for another paycheck.

I think I'm going to stick with time cards for both games, though. It makes it a lot easier to control my finances that way. The fewer automatic bill payments I'm doing the better, as far as I'm concerned. Yeah, it could be cheaper overall to do the automatic thing, but it's burned me enough lately as it is.

The other side effect of this weekend off is that it has broken the "OMG SO SHINY" from the WoW expansion for me. I took advantage of this with a trip to Borders to abuse my employee appreciation discount. I picked up Season 2 of Heroes and Season 1 of Pushing Daisies fuck you ABC and your lack of keeping this show going. I also spent a good deal of time this weekend rewatching True Blood thanks to the joys of On-Demand.

Well, I'm going to indulge in some addiction or another I think. Well, that and take lil breaks to fold the ginormous pile of laundry that [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi has managed to stack on my bed.

It's been a few days now (okay, two) so I think I can now post about this. But I'll be nice and cut it.

We watched last night's Heroes today. Was pretty good, although spoiler ). I definitely hope the writer's strike ends soon so that we don't have to wait until next fall for Volume 3 to start up.

Sci-Fi seems to have stopped airing Bionic Woman. This is a problem, as I was starting to enjoy watching it. It's not the best show out by any standards, but we sorta have it pre-empted here in it's NBC slot due to [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi watching Private Practice. Ah well. We'll see what happens I suppose.

Issue 11 of City of Heroes launches tomorrow! So, don't expect me to do much else other than play it over the next few days. :p

Time to veg out for the rest of the night.

This week, Heroes beat Pushing Daisies as my favorite show of the week. PD is still the best show on TV, but tonight's installment wasn't the grand slam the previous installments have been. Still a really damn good episode, though! I was a bit weirded out by the apparent change in the apartment complex that happened today, but maybe it was always like that and it just wasn't obvious. Oh well.

Going to go back to City of now. I'm a bit too addicted right now.

don't click the internal link on that page. the hollywood reporter site is ad central, and it looks like at least one ad may be mean to computers.

*sigh* Heroes needs to make up it's mind. It's having Sophmoritis. )

Played some City of Villains last night. Got Kalleesta up to 38 so now she has Fluffy! Did some Trick or Treating after, but it's slow going since she doesn't have a lot of badges left to get. She's got to get the Spirits and Werewolves and that's it I think. Maybe the Vampires. And the Giant Monsters. And the new badges from this year. Okay, so she ahs a lot of badges left, but she got the costume slot already and it's been slow as hell to get costume salvage drops for her.

Tested all three of my big guns on the Training Room to make sure they would all have access to the Flashback system. They do. Kung Ru has it because she's done every story arc and badge mission so far. Hidden Justice has the badge about the Rikti Ambassador or some such (there's time travel involved in it, so yeah). Kalleesta, of course, fought the time travelling Doctor about seven billion times already, so of course she has it. The system is fun. Being autoexemped into fetus-level and looking at three full bars of greyed out powers? HILARIOUS! Time to break out the temp powers, people! Kung Ru got the Isolator badge on test. It took for freakin' EVER. But it's done and all is well in the world. I may go back to test and try out some flashbacks, but I don't want to do it all on test and then not want to do it again on Live. You know how it is.

Well, getting back to work now. Since, ya know, it took me an hour to write this and post it due to actually doing said work. :-p

Despite yesterday evening feeling far later than it was, we did wind up clearing a lot of things out of Tivo yesterday. Heroes was good, although [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi is getting tired of the lack of actual answers to questions that are coming up, because in all honesty some things actually do deserve answers, even if it's not a resolution. That was the only non HGTV show we watched last night, though, but we cleared out like 6 episodes of stuff based on things we'd already seen or things we watched last night.

I thought it was like 9 or 9:30. It was 7:30. O_o My brain was confused.

Dinner last night was very tasty. Cooked up some rice, made a white sauce with chicken seasonings and onion powder, mised in some actual chicken, peas, carrots, corn, and some cheddar cheesed. Baked it all together and it was very yummy.

Dinner tonight will probably be less entertaining. Either pasta or, well, pasta.

Today at work we get free lunch from a vendor! I already had a sandwich I brought with me which wouldn't survive until tomorrow anyway, so I ate it anyway. :-p I may grab a small sandwich from the lunch here, though.

I re-watched "Pie-lette" last night on ABC's website. For those not in the know, that's the name of the premier episode of Pushing Daisies. Totally feel good television. I stand by my thought that it's the best thing on TV this season.

Hopefully watching Heroes tonight. Depends on how [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi is feeling.

Need to do ToT'ing in City of Heroes/Villains. I've got a lot of characters to get badges and costumes and whatnot for. Plus it'll be nice to restock my SG bases with costume salvage bits.

Trying to decide what I want to make for dinner. I'm thinking I'm going to make the pot-pie-esque chicken and rice dish again, because that was damn good the first time. Might make a loaf of bread to use for breakfasts for the rest of the week, too.

Still working towards my goal of at least one post per day this month!

I played a TON of City of Heroes/Villains on Sunday. I'm really really enjoying it. Going to play some more shortly, as a matter of fact. I'm big time missing WoW and my guild there, though. I had to resist the urge to re-up my account there because a) I can't afford it at all right now and b) I SO can't afford it right now. CoX is payed til September, so no point in avoiding it anymore. Right now, the plan is to be back in WoW on November 2nd. Earlier if someone wants to buy me a game time card. ;)

Since I'm not working tomorrow... wait, I didn't post about that yet. See, okay, when we moved in here there was some stupid nightmare thing about providing a copy of the lease to the gas company to prove the previous tennant no longer lives here, or that we lived here, or something retarded like that. And Consumers Energy closed their only office anywhere remotely near where I live. I mean, I could have gone to Novi or Royal Oak or something, but I'm so not doing that with the price of gas being what it is. So, finally, [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi had had enough of my procrastinating especially since it is getting cold finally and forced me to deal with it. So I did. And we faux faxed them a copy of the documents they wanted and now they are coming tomorrow to turn everything on. Which means I need to talk to the office probably, too. Anyrate, that was an all-day appointment (8am to 4pm), so I can't quite go to work tomorrow. Already called my boss and he's cool with it. I may do some telecommuting just to get my case load down. Have laptop, will work from home!

So, yeah, there wasn't really anything else to that "Since I'm not working tomorrow..." line. It was just a cheap way to segue into that big wall-o-text above.

Oh, wait, I did have something! If [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi is up to it we may actually watch Heroes tonight! *gasp* *shock* *awe*

Pushing Daisies continues to be the best new show we have on our Tivo. Seriously. It's funny, it's dark, it's light, it's fast paced, it's emotional, it's smart. It's Dead Like Me on crack! If you are not watching this show you are seriously missing out.

We're quite astounded with how much we have on Tivo that we don't want to part with. We've never had this many shows, especially this many shows we want to watch together, in a single season. Pushing Daisies, Bionic Woman, Reaper, Chuck, and Heroes. Five hours of television per week that isn't on HGTV that we watch together. Add to that my show (Smallville) and [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi's shows (Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, and Dirty Sexy Money) and you have a gigantoid segment of our lil 40 hour Tivo that is accounted for. Plus, [livejournal.com profile] carebear_flare likes to watch a few of these shows with us, too. It's psychotic!!

The problem is... we don't have a dual tuner. We need one badly. That way we can get Ugly Betty added to our list as opposed to having to wait for it on DVD or on marathons over the weekends. And we can also get Bionic Woman and Private Practice at the same time. Wednesday nights are particularly brutal for us. There aren't many shows on that we don't want to watch on Wednesday.

On a less TV related note, I paid the remainder of my rent yesterday, which only came out to around $8 somehow. I'm not complaining, but it means we've been overpaying somehow. We need to get that sorted out before next month's rent payment so we don't have it happen again. To celebrate being less broke than we thought, we all went out and partook of the Neverending Pasta Bowl at Olive Garden and we all proceeded to eat way too much food. A quick, and pricy, Meijer run followed, a drive home, some tv watching and sleep, and I'm still not hungry yet. Seriously!

I'm really excited about [livejournal.com profile] carebear_flare's new job at the Cage, and I'm hoping he can maneuver it into a permanent position. He even got a call from Borders for an interview in the AP department! When it rains it pours, I guess!

Well, I'm gonna go play something. Either Civ IV (which just got patched) or Sims 2 (which I haven't yet patched) or Blue Dragon (which I downloaded the Hard Mod aka New Game + for) or City of Villains where I'm slowly becoming addicted to a Brute.

Or maybe I'll go be a shameless flirt online. I've been known to do that.

Tivo Love?

jdotmi: (Shower Fresh)
Finally got to watch this weeks Heroes last night. So far, this season doesn't quite have the punch of last season, but this was still a pretty decent episode. Spoilery cut ) We also watched Property Virgins, which is a pretty cool show. Canadian, but most good shows these days are. Yes, it's a home buying show, get over it. So, we still have this week's episodes of Chuck, Reaper, and Pushing Daisies to watch. Not sure if that'll be tonight or tomorrow, though, since [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi is supposed to be on a homework/study buddy binge tonight for his programming class. We shall see.

Today is free lunch day here. Also known as All Hands Meeting day. I like our new All Hands Meetings. They drive us to a hotel, give us free snacks, we get a multimedia presentation, then we come back and basically work a half day. And our department has ordered us pizza for both of them so far. It's also [livejournal.com profile] carebear_flare's first day of work at our IT Cage. He put in apps with Kelly on Monday, got called on Tuesday, and found out yesterday. I was pretty certain when he told me on Tuesday he was working at an "IT Cage" but didn't know where yet that he would be at Borders. I was right! I am highly amused. :)

We watched Heroes and Chuck last night. Not sure what I think of Chuck. It was okay, but it wasn't anything that made me go "I must watch this at all times". I'll watch a few more to see if it sticks. Heroes was good. Still waiting to see what's up with the rest of the characters, but I'll be patient for now.

I'm purposely not finishing Bioshock quite yet. I could probably finish in an hour or so, but I'm trying to not spend all day in front of the TV when I get home. So, I played Sims 2 instead after dinner and TV watching. :-p Because, ya know, that's such a better way to use my time.

Well, time to concentrate on more work, because I have a ton to do today.
jdotmi: (William)
Two days in a row with updates? What's up with that?

I'm rapidly approaching the end of Bioshock. I just did some backtracking to make sure I hadn't missed any purchaseable Tonics and am now working my way through to find the last of the Little Sisters in the game. It's pretty good, and once I finish I'll start over on Hard just to get the last Achievement I'll be missing.

Last night was a new episode of Heroes, which I won't be watching until I get home today. :-p See, [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi has class until 9:30 on Monday, so we watch it together on Tuesday instead.

Got some Sims 2 time in last night. Can't wait to get my first 8 in my custom neighborhood graduated from UNI and into the main neighborhood. If only because they will then be in far more manageable households of 2 instead of 8. I'll have to do some cheating to get them evened out in simoleans (they get to have 10k, but I have a no20khandout mod installed, so they'll only wind up with about 6k each when they graduate based on how much money they've been gaining).

Well, time to get to work. Well, back to it. Already been doing it, but you know what I mean.

I'm not dead yet! Although, several of you knew that since I'm still all commenty and whatnot on journals. But, anyway, I was on vacation last week (as evidenced by my last friends-locked post), and I spent the entirety of it trying to relax. I got myself nicely readdicted to Civilization IV (the new expansion has made the game a lot of fun), Sims 2 (another new expansion came out), and Blue Dragon. Yes, Blue Dragon is an XBox 360 game. Yes, we bought an XBox 360 Elite. ANYRATE, it's fun. And [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi got me mildly addicted to Forza 2, but that's neither here nor there. He's addicted to Bioshock, but, really, can you blame him? I got into an alpha test for a game which is turning out to be pretty fun. It's hopefully going into beta soon and should be released by the end of October. If you enjoyed Diablo II at all you should really like this game. I sorta OD'd on it while on vacation, so I've taken a couple days to play other games now. I got back on the City of Heroes/Villains bandwagon as well. My Mastermind has had a bit too much fun in the Rikti War Zone and is now finishing up her story arcs so that she can hopefully hit 40 soon.

We bought Season 1 of Heroes and, just as I expected, [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi is thoroughly addicted. The the point of watching two disks with me in one day. We rarely watch TV on DVD together, so this was nice. We do watch a lot of HGTV together. Design Star Season 2 is having it's finale this Sunday, and Kim better freakin' win.

In terms of work, I just had a glowing mid-year review (we do reviews based on the fiscal year, not calendar year) so I'm in a pretty good mood regarding that. And all of our training stuff has been set up so we can work on taking courses that will allow us to get actual certs, so that'll be nice to dive in to. Of course, right now I have to dive back in to work, so I'm going to post this and be on my merry way
