Went to a Mediaeval Baebes concert last night. It was AWESOME! I got a lil tipsy, though, having two long island iced teas on an empty stomach. Hehe. Keith was totally trashed, however. He had a heineken and a long island. He's 140lbs. He was totally trashed.

The Baebes totally kicked ass, their dresses were awesome, their voices were incredible, Dorothy Carter (their multi-talented instrumentalist) is a goddess. Nuff said. They got such HUGE amounts of applause and cheers during the concert. Katherine Blake looked really embarassed by it. Everytime people would whistle and scream after a number she'd always blush and giggle.

I bought a T-shirt. Actually, bought two t-shirts. One is going to be a present for [livejournal.com profile] kageneko. :-) Yes, Kiwi, you get Baebe swag.

The Baebes are a very very awesome group. They draw quite an eclectic crowd. The music is just beyond incredible. The concert was attended by professional yuppie types, goth chicks and guys, average joe down the street, every kind of individual you can think of was there. It was a small venue called the Magic Bag. It was pretty packed though.

http://www.mediaevalbaebes.com is the official website for this group. I highly highly highly recommend them to everyone out there!!!!

Oh, for those who know the Baebes already, they performed music from all four of their albums. They were very very funny too. They would introduce their songs and tell us about the history and the meaning of the songs. Such as the one about the farmer who tends to his garden and the animals in it very tenderly and who found a half frozen worm one winter and nursed it back to health and it crawled underneath the stones of his fireplace, and he continued to feed it milk, and come spring time a large snake emerged from underneath the fireplace and began crushing the plants and devouring the small animals in the garden. When the farmer protested, the snake hissed and curled around the farmer, crushing him. The moral of the story was, obviously, that no good deed goes unpunished. ;-)

If you want a good introduction as to what their sound is like, try finding a song called "Kinderly". It was the first bit of the Baebes music I was introduced to, and it hooked me from the start.
