Happy birthday [livejournal.com profile] daviddutton

Angel:
Awesome episode. Great end to the season. If necessary, great end to the series, but if WB doesn't renew it, they will have legions of rabid fans beating down their doors to devour their flesh like rabid zombies.

I will not go all spoilery on the finale. Suffice to say, it was strong. It was funny, it was highly emotional, and it had the perfect knife-twist ending to it.

Sleep:
There is something wrong with my alarm clock. I am 99% certain it did not go off this morning. I turned the volume onto high when I finally woke up (at 8:00... I have to leave at 8:00 in order to not be late) so that it doesn't have a repeat performance tonight. I'll probably set an alarm on the pager as a backup just in case.

Buffy:
Still hate UPN50. Must watch Saturday.

Allergies

jdotmi: (Default)
When spring time hits (and when fall hits) my sinuses explode with fun lil allergy issues. It isn't anything severe or debilitating, but it is annoying.

This morning, I woke up late and managed to forget to take my Sudafed. I am now all shades of stuffy from this event. It's not a wet stuffy, either. That I could deal with. It's a crusty, unhappy stuffy that bleeds when you finally get rid of it.

Allergies are evil.

I should have posted this earlier but totally forgot for some reason until just now.

When I went to Red Robin last night with [livejournal.com profile] dianak and [livejournal.com profile] amberthistle I actually had some dessert for the first time.

We got the hot apple crisp

x_x

I'm so craving that right now.

But, tonight will be a pizza night at [livejournal.com profile] dianak's place. Wonder if [livejournal.com profile] eligrrl will be home! I haven't talked to her since her vacation!!

!Frugal

jdotmi: (Default)
I can honestly say I am no longer horrible with money.

That said, I am not nearly as frugal as I should be at this point.

Having already bought 6 seasons of Star Trek: TNG, 3 seasons of Buffy, 1 season of Angel, and 1 season of Highlander sorta disqualifies me from the school of thought of planning purchases ahead. Now, true, Keith bought most of the Star Trek, but still. We both have better things we should be doing with our money.

Having complained about this, I have no intention of changing this facet of the behavior. Why? Simple. Many of these things are things Keith and I can do together. We don't get a lot of that. We can watch Star Trek together. We can watch some Buffy together, even though he isn't much of a fan. We can go shopping for the things and spend a day together, which is something we rarely get to do.

For the last several months, I have bought at least two out of three meals a day at someplace other than a grocery store. I was spending upwards of $20 per day (at most) on food for myself. In fact, a while back, I had this whole thing calculating how much money I was spending on food when I opted to do the "bringing my lunch to work" routine. You know, back when [livejournal.com profile] dianak and I were working out before she became gainfully employed and I got my kittens.

I will no longer be doing this. This week I have started to cut back. I do still eat a large breakfast, but my lunches have shrunk considerably. I also wind up eating at home more often for dinner. I do enjoy my weekly dinner trip to Red Robin with friends, and will continue to do so, but I will not spend $16 per day on food at work.

I have almost enough money saved to completely pay off my school bill. I could wait another two months and kill of my Visa card instead, but I have a real burning desire to get back into the ability to be in school.

So, for those math geeks out there, just by ditching my food spending at work for breakfast and lunch, I will be adding an additional $80 per week to my savings account.
