New Years -1
So, like, it's New Year's Eve or some silly thing like that today. Amusing stuff. Everything closes early, people run about in a panic wondering how they will ever have enough time to get to all the cool parties and drink enough to not realize how stupid they look with four party hats on their head and three kazoos in their mouths.
It's really quite amusing. Well, at least, I hear it is. I haven't actually experienced one in years. See, I have this job where I have to go to work at 12:00 am on January 1st every year and I get paid a shitload of money to make sure some computer systems don't mysteriously think that they have to succumb to the "horrors" of Y2K four years after the fact.
See, I worked this same job when Y2K hit. It was really boring. It was kinda cool that some of my co-workers who I never see were there in their evening finest with glasses of champagne staring at the computers and being awed by the fact that they didn't spontaneously combust, but all in all, it was boring. I suppose the only interesting bit was when a process on one of our Macintosh computers thought that it had changed from 99 to 100 on the years, but it then corrected itself.
So... yeah. Bored now. Nothing going on at the dayjob. Very boring stuff. Guess I'll just stare at the screen and hope something interesting happens.
