Budget Meals
This weekend, we decided to go insane. We had pizza on Saturday and Sunday.
And it only cost like $15 for both days for three of us. Cuz, ya know, we made it home-made...
See, I bought pizza sauce during our Saturday Meijer Run. And we always have flour at home (we love making homemade bread rolls). We already had mozzerella cheese, and had bought more cheese due to it being on sale.
Saturday was the experiment day. First day making it. Pre-baked the crust, but it got an air bubble and asploded (well, nearly), and it was way too hard when it was done. I like crispy pizza and all, but parts of this were just too crispy. We had small cubes of breaded chicken we had baked to put on it. I woulda been fine with non-breaded, but the bread crumbs were taunting us, so we used them. Overall, that pizza was a success.
Sunday we decided to not bre-bake the crust. This was an excellent plan. But, see, we had also bought beef at Meijer, and we wanted meatballs, so we made meatballs. Half of them then got shredded to put on the pizza. This was very tasty. We didn't have any more mozzerella, but we had bought the kraft italian five cheese blend deal, so used that instead. And since I had only bought one jar of pizza sauce, we used pasta sauce instead. :p I think we'll stick with pizza sauce for our pizzas, but this came out fine.
The rest of the meatballs got broken up and put into a meatball soup. Pretty good soup, at that.
I have a feeling that we're going to have pizza more frequently now. Cuz, ya know, we don't have enough variety in our meals or anything. :p
