Nearly a week without a post. :-p Creepy, isn't it?

Many things have conspired against my use of LiveJournal, but the biggest reason has been exhaustion. Very tired. Ready to not be so tired anymore. I have been online, though. I've even posted comments now and then. Shocking, really. Thankfully, this is a holiday week for me. Yes, this means I get an extra day of work at Booth, but it means I get one less day of work at Borders, which, oddly enough, means I get more sleep and relaxation time then I would otherwise.

So, what has kept me from posting other than exhaustion? Well, for one, [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi made me cry (but in a good way!) by buying me Season 7 of Buffy last week. I'm slowly working my way through it, since my time has been divided in so many different directions as of late. So far, I have watched "Lessons", "Beneath You" and "Same Time, Same Place". Yes, that means I'm still on disk 1. :-p It's okay, though. I'm enjoying it. Especially since I already know how it all plays out, I get to watch for clues as I go.

EverQuest II has also got my attention for the time being. The "only four characters EVAR" bit is a major turn-off for me, and I can already tell that The Fourth Wall isn't as hardcore into it as would be necessary to keep me playing for a long while. At least Crafting, while still quite tedious in terms of resource gathering, is possible without making your head explode and your eyes bleed. I'm not a big fan of the character models. I think some of them look okay, and some of them look like shit. Kerran heads are very unnatural looking. Human male heads look like they had an encounter the wrong end of an insane plastic surgeon's knife. The hair and facial hair options for pretty much every race and every gender look retarded. It's like they took cyber-punk hairstyles and tossed them into a medieval setting. There are between one to three decent looking styles per race, but everyone uses those styles. Plus they look like play-dough or plastic wedges in many styles instead of looking like actual hair. When creating a color, the "color wheel" for skin tones and the crptacular color bar for hair colors don't even look remotely correct. You click on what should be a very beige looking color and wind up with bright orange. I think not. The eye color one seems to be the most accurate of all of them, and even it is a bit retarded.

City of Heroes has started to test Issue 3 on the Test server. It seems to be quite a mixed bag, and the forum response to a few things is overwhelmingly negative. There is some deeply retarded shit going on in the game storyline which to some smells like retcon, but I see how it is an actual evolution. Well, other than the BRONZE PLAQUE beneath the status of Atlas having the text changed on it. I'm sorry, a villain group changes overnight (over a few weeks in the storyline, and it had seeds clearly in place since the launch of the game if you paid attention) and suddenly Atlas wasn't defending the city from the 5th Column anymore? Retcon retard. ~_~

The Sims 2 has a new patch announcement that will be coming in the near future. It actually fixes a large number of major bugs people have written about. This is a big surprise, since EA could rarely be bothered to fix the major bugs people griped about in The Sims and pretty much had fixes for some things in later expansions instead of in patches. Although, considering current events I'm not surprised that nobody had time to work on patches for The Sims. They were too busy working 90 work weeks with no overtime on the next new thing.

Stress is quite clearly the remaining factor making me very tired. No more unemployment checks coming in, no job yet, and the impending holidays makes me a very very stressed out boy. He's emailing his resume to the tech portion of Office Team (which, to both of us, seems vaguely disorganized) and he will be checking with Manpower and Kelly Services. Office Team did indicate they have jobs available, so I'm hopeful on that front.

Work has been interesting. Today definitely has helped to improve my mood. I got in this morning and there were newbies in the lobby, including a tallish guy who I thought, while a bit on the skinny side for my taste, was pretty damn cute. I thought "Eye candy! Hope I see more of him. Wonder where he'll be working..." Well, I found out. The supervisor of Waldenbooks Store Support was introducing his newest team member to the Walden techs and then the Borders techs. He walked up to introduce him to Kerry, my supervisor, who sits across the aisle me. I immediately messaged [livejournal.com profile] winterlady, who sits one cube down from Kerry so she had already been introduced to him, "Ooohhh cute boy!"

So, yeah. Eye candy at work. :-p Cuz, ya know, I don't already have a lot of that here anyway.

9 out of 10 doctors agree - Eye Candy has been proven to reduce stress in men AND women.

This is a good thing!

Statesman claims to be puzzled by the plaque thing and is looking into it. Now, that could be code for "damn, people are really pissed about, so I'll see if we can put it back," but I dunno. *g*

Heh. Yeah, but it also decreases workplace productivity. :-p

No, I have a feeling that really is a bug. There are a few instances of things like that they really need to look at because changing them will make people scream "retcon!!!!" at them.

Well, I see now that he said it was people misinterpreting what he wanted done. Which means it'll get changed back.

Yep. Which is good.

And some of the other deeply retarded shit that isn't storyline related is getting fixed. This makes me happy.

Heh. Which shit did you find deeply retarded? *g*

Me, I don't play on the test server generally. I level slowly enough as it is...I want to spend my time leveling my main or one of my main alts. *g*

Oh, the "improvement" to mob AI that affected things like Rain of Fire, Burn, Caltrops, and Blizzard. That was one deeply retarded bit. Especially since they tout Rain of Fire as being one of the better Fire Blaster powers, but since blasters are incapable of holding mobs in the Rain for any period of time it sorta loses it's effectiveness.

And if you think you level slow on this game, you REALLY need to play EQ or EQ2. :-p The fact that I'm level 30 in this game less than a year after release attests to the insanely fast pace of the game. After 5 years, I'm only 32 in EQ. :-p

Well, when you think about it from a logic persective, the Rain of Fire, etc. changes make sense. If you were a villain, would *you* just stand there where it's raining fire, or would you run to the spot where there's no flaming wrath falling from the heavens? *g* I think you'd move. *g* However, in game terms, it does make the powers rather crappy.

And speaking of levels, it does depend on the game. My brother started playing FFXII probably a month or two after CoH came out, and he's something like level 50 or more there...
