Weekend Update

Shadowrun:
Shadowrun was less runny than normal. A lot of "gee, how are we going to spend the 5 million nuyen we got out of that last run" and "let's see how much dirt we can dig up on the Humanis so we can get them to leave Chaim the fuck alone already" and all that jazz. At this point, a couple of us are like "Let's just storm the office of the fucker who's ordering all this shit and kill him." This would include the Catholic former-nun. Well, she's not so much for the killing but the maiming would be nice.
Generally what happened was this. Chaim (aka Jerry, aka the Troll mage in the group) beat the living shit out of a guy who was threatening his shop (he works as a mechanic at a garage, the guy was anonymously threatening to kill him and his customers) and left him (severely beaten and slightly healed) in his house. Well, the guy worked for Humanis and someone sent in another troll to finish the guy off. Chaim got arrested for it, cleared of all charges because the person who called in the death is dead himself (the guys son), and now is dealing with picketers from Humanis in front of his shop, including people who he remembers from a very violent attack on him and the owners of his shop (an Ork couple). One of those guys tried infiltrating the protesters who supported the shop, but he was recognized and asked to leave. He then drove by in his truck really quickly, and thanks to an Influence spell from the Human mage of the group, drove past without hitting anyone. Well, we don't know that he would have hit anyone had he stuck around, but nobody was going to risk it. The next day or a couple days later, my elf mage (the former Nun) got her Nun friends to come over and support the shop and guilt trip the bad guys and what not. That was amusing.
So far, Morgana increased her Athletics skill and her Negotiations skill. She gained Gang Identification, Gang Turf, and I think one other gang-related knowledge skill. She's currently saving up increase her Magic rating via Initiations. There aren't really any groups out there she could join, and the party doesn't really have a cohesive style to really fit a magical group. I mean, you've got the human mage who was raised by elves (her parents were both elves) and learned magic from them. You've got the qabbalistic Troll mage who would have been a rabbi had he not become a Troll. You've got the dwarf mouse shaman. You've got the catholic former-nun who, shortly after taking her vows, turned into an elf and spent several decades hiding in her convent until the church as a whole pulled it's head out of it's ass and accepted meta-humans. So, self-initiation for her. Possibly with a nice Meditation ordeal to go with it. She also needs to upgrade some of her spells and get some new ones. Maybe research a nice light-based smite spell. Lightning Bolt is all well and good for it, but who knows.
The Troll and the Dwarf did do one very good deed. They bought Platinum Doc Wagon contracts for the Ork couple and have sent them both to the hospital for bed rest and mental help and regrowing of limbs (since Bob lost a couple due to the earlier violent attack on them). The total cost of said treatments doesn't even push 300k (including the two 100k doc wagons). It's all good.
Card Games:
Early American Chrononauts. Very fun game. Must locate and buy. Also need to get a new Flux deck, since
satyr_mi gave ours to his sister. :-p
Bill Payment:
The only bill we should have left for January is the electric bill. Need to have
satyr_mi double check it and we can pay it tonight. I paid all of my bills this past weekend and just mailed out March's JC Penny card payment.
Day Off:
I had Sunday off from both jobs this week. I took it off so that we wouldn't have to rush gaming or anything like that. It was pretty nice. Got to play the card games mentioned earlier and play a little bit of the MegaMan collections that
lilacmoon5 and Jason brought over. Made pancakes for everyone. They were a big hit. It was all good.
Back to Work:
Back to work today. In a good mood about it. Had my caffeine for the morning, made myself an egg sandwich for breakfast. Even grilled the bread properly for it. Only thing missing was some sort of meat for it. I do have to stop at Meijer on the way home today to pick up some staples, so I'll get stuff for that. Hopefully the cafeteria has something non-disgusting (or non-boring) for lunch today. Otherwise it's probably going to be a turkey sandwich day for me.
Well, this update is getting long and took me an hour and a half to write in between calls. So I'm done for now!
