Sleep Dep, Chatting and Sims 2

I've been staying up way too late at night for the hour that I have to crawl out of bed to get to work. I blame Sims 2. Mostly. Chatting online comes in second, but only because I get jumped by people for some reason if I log in at 11ish at night. :-p Had a good time chatting, at least. Need in-person socialization, though. Maybe I should have another Buffy party at some point.

I've been playing a lot of Sims 2. And by "a lot" I mean "good god could you stop for five minutes and do laundry already?" and not one or two hours a night. :-p I'm playing Pleasantview and getting ready to send my second batch of Sims to college. The first batch (put into a household called "Class of 2005") are Juniors right now. That group includes Dustin Broke, Dirk Dreamer, and Angela and Lilith Pleasant. They also nabbed two Townies to go with them. The second group (who will be put into a household called "Class of 2006") will include Alexander Goth, Lucy Burb, Beau Broke, and maybe Melanie Caliente (the daughter of Mortimer and Dina, who is not yet a teen, but has all skills except Body at an 8 already, so I may just push her ahead).

I've become something of a hack addict, though. I went to Variousimmers and downloaded the "greaterthanyou" combo zip file from JM Pescado. I did delete some of the components I didn't want (such as the no magic 20k amongst others). A lot of them just keep Sims from being retarded (pillow fight in the middle of the road? I think not) and allow you to queue up things that normally take extreme amounts of micromanagement to complete. Got a couple of fixes from TwoJeffs as well, including one that lets you grant the extra UNI want/fear slots and the extra lock to pre-UNI adult Sims. Also got the one that stops the Secret Society abductions, which are very very annoying and time consuming for Sims who are on such a tight schedule as it is.

At some point, I need to make a neighborhood map in SimCity 4 so that I can build my own from scratch, but that's going to have to wait until I get Pleasantview moving along a bit further than it is. Trying to get a new generation established is a bit tricky. It'll take some time to sort people through College and back into the town itself, as well as get the current UNI students into town. I may age up some of the Townie children so that some of them can get to college and actually age. Plus I'm sick of every sim growing up with the same 5 sim-kids who never age. EVER. ~_~

I'm a bit surprised you've not gotten the Pleasantview gang further along that than.. this isn't your first iteration of it is it?

I have a lot of hacks in my game. Breakfast anytime, pregnant pygamas, homework not every day, the magic potty, the LTW clock, the electronic money tree, the Insiminator.. I swear, my sims rarely sleep.

I'm playing Pleasantwo at the moment and I just welcomed Daniel's toddlerhood. He is one seriously UGLY child.

I keep restarting it. Seriously. I have 8 old copies of the Sims 2 folder in my My Documents\EA Games directory. :-p

This group I've been playing for about two weeks. I got the first college crew to their Junior year and the pre-made college crews are moving along. That took about three or four days.

I love the UNI clock. I actually reset the first semester of Sophmore year because I tried setting it to finals, but it glitched and wouldn't let them go to finals. I have used it to re-roll LTWs for most of the Pleasantview crew. I used "No Age Discrimination" to get Herb and Coral Oldie their careers that their LTWs wanted (Slacker and Law Enforcement). I cheated just enough to buy some Elixir for Daniel and Mary Sue so that they could have a third child (she's still pregnant, has been for a real-life week now since I've not played the house).

Sims can sleep? Oh yeah, I do that occaisionally to shuffle Want panels. :-p boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true -> shift+left click on mailbox -> Make All Happy is my friend. :-p That's how I do most of my skill building. I'm actually going to, eventually, create a neighborhood where I don't use that cheat code. x_x It's going to be scary.

I've never used a boolProp cheat.. I'm afraid of fucking up the game. -_- I figure at least with an inserted hack I can get rid of it easily.

so I use the insiminator.. for EVERYTHING.

I also for some reason hate the uni process so aside from three or four sims right away, Ive not sent any. :P

Actually you can do "boolProp testingCheatsEnabled false" to turn it off. It also doesn't persist if you exit the game and re-enter it. It's superior to Insiminator in my mind because Insiminator calls some of the same functions (or has written similar ones), but then fucks up the memories of the sims (and the ability to gain said memories, such as friend/love memories and said states. I literally could not get a Sim to fall in love with someone I had used Insiminator to set as love, then "really like" no matter how many times she flirted with him.). There are some things I'd prefer from Insiminator, but the glitchyness of it keeps me away. The cheat also produces error logs when Sims do things wonky, and you can sometimes figure out from that what broke.

I mainly use Spawn -> Tombstone of L & D. This one lets you do all sorts of fun things (pregnancies via any sim on the lot regardless of gender, including your own sim, or alien pregnancies. make me friendly to everyone here [90/90 relationship with all Sims on lot, even if you haven't met them, with no met soandso or friend/best friend or crush/love tags set and able to gain them along with memories with one interaction]). You get that from Shift + Left Click on the active Sim. It lets you select any career from a newspaper (shift + left click) and set any career level with a garbage can (shift + left click again) and set yourself up with any career rewards (shift + left click on the newspaper again).

Me too. Sounds like your having fun. My Alexander is about to graduate, he's one of my favorite simmies to play. I'll have to check out a few of those hacks you mentioned.
