Apparently, to celebrate the new issue, they're having a reactivation weekend in City of Heroes.

...

My WoW addiction isn't waning enough to allow me to fully appreciate this development, but I shall indeed take some advantage of it.

Huh, interesting about CoH/V. Perhaps I'll patch up my client and give it a retry -- haven't played in ... forever really. What server should I bother rolling on anyway, where you guys (you, Winterlady, etc.) are on? I know multiple servers, but what would you say is the 'core' server?

Also as far as WoW goes I'm totally schizophrenic with the game right now. So not focusing at all on one character. I have a 73 Priest, 72 Hunter, 72 Druid (just respececd to Boomkin, phear my nukes!) and an almost 62 Death Knight. Too bad I didn't focus on one of them I'd be 80 by now I'm sure. Ah well.

Though, if I had to choose one of them ... I'd probably go with my Boomkin I think. I was 73 on the priest, 72 on the hunter and the DK was where he is now before I even dusted off the druid. He was totally feral, from level 10 onward, and figured I'd go with Boomkin and see how it went -- had ZERO gear so started with something like +500 SP on my old healing set, still don't have great gear (mostly greens and quest rewards) with about +715 or so SP but he's fun to play for sure.

Well, [livejournal.com profile] winterlady has not yet been sucked into the City since the mac version is technically not released yet. But I tend to play on Virtue for the most part, but I long since ran out of standard character slots there and had to buy more. Heh. My global handle on City is @jdotmi

I've been levelling up my priest a bit now that Letalli is 80. But I'm still working on grinding up some factions for her, so I don't spend too much time on my alts at the moment.

Ah yes, sorry about winterlady ... got confused with usernames on my friends ilst for a minute there. Someone totally different. *blinks* I need me some more sleep, for sure.

As far as faction grinding at 80 goes ... I know that you can use the tabards to gain whatever faction it is that you want to work on at that moment, but I'm curious does it have to be a Heroic instance or can it be a normal one as well?

Not sure what level your priest is but obviously Shadow is a great leveling spec, and actually Discipline is very nice and viable these days. My 73 priest is actually Discipline and he can nuke very well/hard. Heck I'll draw aggro from the wife when we're duoing and she's a feral specced druid in cat form with huge attack numbers streaming from her.

The Champion system requires level 80 dungeons, which include the heroics. The problem is that only four factions are on that system: Wyrmrest Accord, Argent Crusade, Kirin Tor, and Ebon Hold. Everything else is a matter of grinding up daily quests. I'm working on Sons of Hodir, which are the new faction with the shoulder enchants and with some very very very very very very very nice recipes (32 slot mining bag at honored, 22 slot tailored standard bag at exalted) and two mammoth mounts.

My priest is 65 and very much Shadow. I had planned to respec her to a discipline/holy combo at 70 for raiding, but only got her to 62 before Wrath shipped, so I'm thinking of doing it earlier.

Cat Form on druids has threat reduction baked in, so it makes sense that you'd draw aggro from her that way. Heh. Pets draw aggro off me when I'm in cat all the time.

Ah, didn't realize just four of the factions are useable with the tabard system. That stinks.

Me takes 4 22 sloters please, for four characters, so 16! :) I'm sure that the mats on them are going to be a pain . Probably those orbs that can drop from Heroics, Frozen Orbs is it?, to get started.

Probably a good idea for you to stay shadow for now, especially since the 70 raiding game is dead. Get yourself to 68 and then hit Northrend. :) Disc is nice, but even with full-spec going it takes way more mana than Shadow did (at least it seems that way to me, though I haven't been shadow since about the mid-60s myself).

You need to make the new versions of Mooncloth and Shadoweave cloth. So, yeah, the mats are asstastic. No frozne orbs, though. Just those and Eternals.

I was actually thinking of levelling as disc/holy. There are a lot of DPS talents available in holy, and the buffs in Discipline would make survivability pretty high. My only concern is the loss of Replenishment from Vampiric Touch. Even then, I can get mana oils, mana regen elixirs, mana regen food, yadda yadda yadda. So I drink after every fight or two? I have to do that sometimes as Shadow.

This is my Disc priest, spec seems to work for me pretty well:

The 51st talent point is a great, great spell.
