Buffy Night Badness
Buffy:
I was very sad and grumpy. Buffy got pre-empted for a stupid fucking hockey game.
Not just a stupid hockey game. Not just a fucking hockey game. A stupid fucking hockey game.
Buffy should not be pre-empted for anything short of Global Thermonuclear War.
Ok, I'm kidding on that. But, geez, if people wanted to watch sporting events they'd go to the damn arena themselves. ;-)
Hanging Out:
Had lots of fun last night at
amberthistle's place. I was there, she was there, Ed was there,
brigittefires was there,
templar_rose was there, and
griffonisrex was there. Purity points were lost by some. It was highly amusing.
We had Crab Rangoon. Never had that before. It was ok. Strong, but ok. I still think it would be better made with a little less filling in each one, but that's just me.
Since Buffy was bumped, we watched some Stargate SG1. I liked, even if we wound up not really seeing much due to chatting and whatnot. Scientist guy who had stayed on the other side of the Stargate was a hottie.
Talked about gaming stuff. Issues that were conflicting with gaming stuff. Timing that was conflicting with gaming stuff. Talked about humorous anecdotes from gaming.
Joe really should have stayed later than he did. ;-) Poor boy would have been scarred for life.
Wait... too late.
I didn't wind up leaving until way too late. I spent about 2.5 hours saying "I really need to go home, I really need to go home..." I finally went home. :-p
Sleep Deprivation:
Ask
satyr_mi and he'll tell you I get really cute/annoying/goofy when I'm really tired. I was babbling like a three year old last night when I got home and was in bed mostly asleep. People who game with me would recognize the tone of voice as the one I use for "kooky-child lisa", albeit my words are all slurred together and I'm more or less incapable of making a coherent sentence. I do know that I was unconcious before Keith even closed the door to my room when he went to bed.
Then the alarm went off... for the third time... and I panicked.
Bolted out of bed, turned off the alarm, took a 5 minute shower, got dressed, fed the cats, got shit together, tested the pager, ran out the door, and got in to work at the ass-hair-crack of dawn. Thankfully I get to leave at 3:45 thanks to this.
I got in at 6:45 so that I could start a server replacement at 7:00am. The replacement was done by 8:30am. That's when I normally come in. Thankfully, breakfast was to be had and caffiene was to be slurped.
Pager Duty:
Still on it. Pager still doesn't work at my apartment. This is much in the shittiness. Full night's sleep, I guess.
Gaming Stuff:
Since I wasn't able to do it yesterday, I will probably go through and re-type all of my character powers today at work. At the very least I need to re-write Miranda's. I'm also going to put together a page of rotes for her to use.
I sort of want to have
templar_rose take a long hard look at the rules for Mage casting. Just looking at the Spheres one would go "oh, that's not so bad" or "wow, that's really strong", but you have to figure in a LOT of stuff to figure out what a Mage can do.
In particular. Mage spells are HIGHLY influenced by the number of successes the Mage accumulates. This is one reason why Mages will almost always do an extended ritual for anything big. Not only do they need it to amass a dice pool large enough to get the successes required, but it allows them to do mighty feats with small amounts of powers. It also has more dangers if it goes wrong.
In particular, Duration and "Levels of Success" are things that need a looksie.
Miranda has some very strong abilities, but some huge limitations on her magic. She needs to be able to see her target to be able to cast a spell on it. It has to be cast on something immediately in the now. She doesn't have any Correspondence (yet) or Time, so two of the most interesting variations of powers are blocked to her. She also doesn't have any Forces, but, interestingly enough, she is a more subtle character than Lisa. Her focus was originally supposed to be in Mind magic, but she is equally proficient in Mind, Life, and Prime now.
Prime is scary. I think I said that before. I'll say it again. Prime is scary.
Just realized something. No-one in our gaming party has any sort of ability to affect the Spirit World or any access to Spirit knowledges to speak of. Supposedly a Garou pack is supposed to be joining, but, well, to be honest, I don't see a whole lot of cooperation going on between Garou and Kindred. Even the ones we have with a huge amount of Humanity.
For example. Alexander is not on Humanity. He's on the Road of Heaven. His Path of Enlightenment is purely Inhuman, if quite pious. This will read to a Garou using "Sense Wyrm" as BIG Wyrm taint.
Lisa has a Humanity of 5. For a Kindred on Humanity to not stink of the Wyrm to a Garou, her Humanity must be 7 or higher.
Well, I think that's enough for now. Started this post at 10:01 after all.
