Friday Morning Update

Sleepiness:
Got woken up at about 3:00 am. Fell back asleep about 4:00 am. Woke up completely at 7:45 am. x_x Oddly enough, the middle of the night wake up didn't really affect my not getting out of bed. I just didn't want to get out of bed. I purposely reset my alarm at 7:00 so I wouldn't get out of bed. Random me. :-p

Food:
Note To Self - no matter how much you know you want corn dogs, you REALLY don't want corn dogs. x_x

Buffy:
I watched Lover's Walk and Band Candy last night. Yeah, I know, out of order, but I wanted to watch them, so nyah!

Wanted to bring the Buffy RPG book with me to work. I forgot. Ah well. I play with it this weekend at Booth.

Gaming:
Drama has begun. Oddly enough, it wasn't a certain non-gamer who started it either. Gonna have to discuss this one with John. I suspect he'll be non-amused by it.

The Sims:

So how does the Buffy game do magic? Will the thing be compatible with D20 Modern which has a similar setting? Trying to figure out if I want to get it just for juicy details. does it cover all of the buffyverse (meaning angel to?) or just Sunnydale?

It actually uses a system called Unisystem. It's a lot different from d20. There are a handful of other games that use Unisystem as well, but the magic system in Buffy is different.

Basically, the caster researches the spell, casts the spell, and prays for good luck. The die roll is modified by a couple factors (Occult skill, Sorcery quality) and the levels of success you get indicate if the spell worked and how well. Stronger spells require higher levels of success. It feels a lot like the magic does in the show. Some spells are simple things that can be used frequently while others are big ol' one time ritual affairs.

The main book covers Sunnydale up to Season 5 of Buffy. Character stats only go until they leave the series. Angel and Cordelia have stats for the end of Season 3, but an Angel book is in progress to update them as well. There is a second book which has information on the various Slayers who have been about. My guess is they will release a Season 6 and Season 7 supplement at some point.

Anyone can cast a ritual normally. Witches (those with the Sorcery quality) can fast cast almost anything at any time, though. They can also do the nifty lil Telekenisis things and whatnot.

The Buffy game sounds like a lot of fun. My friend has the Buffy Board Game. I SOOO want to grab a bunch of friends of mine, and just play it from dusk 'til dawn, while watching Buffy DVD's, and having the Buffy musical CD lightly playing in the background. Is there such thing as Buffy overload? *nods* I didn't think so.
