So I'm posting nonsense.
lisastall has been updated with character stories from last night's game.
I need to talk to
templar_rose and find out how much experience I got from last night's game. I have some character beefing to do. Well, I don't think I really have enough to do what I want. Lisa needs something like 16 exp to bump her thaumaturgy up a point. Not to mention the possibility of "training time".
See, this is a problem. Training time. I've actually never played in a game that actually used it. Why? Because, god, it would be boring! It adds a level of realism, I suppose, but people don't play a game to have an ultra-realistic depiction of power going on.
Training times recommended in various Vampire books for Thaumaturgy recommend like a year for the 4th level power. Now, for some games this seems almost legit. If the characters aren't working on something day in and day out for that year and only have occaisional get togethers for issues it seems almost to make sense. You can stretch time out and not have a problem. But, and this is a big but, if you're playing a pure storyline game with minimal downtime between actual games, it becomes... problematic. You could not realisticly improve any of your skills over the course of a chronicle. You might luck out and be able to increase a Talent or a Skill through use, but that's pretty much it. Disciplines? Forget it. Spheres? No way.
I need to figure out how
templar_rose is going to enforce this or not. That way I can plan a little better on my experience usage. I technically have cause to raise my Empathy now, thanks to having used Mesmerize, but I'm really wanting to save up to max Thaumaturgy as quickly as possible. The faster I can get Lure of Flames up the happier Lisa will be. ;-)
I sort of want to run a Mage game with strict enforcement of casting rules. I also want to run one that's a little more high-action with somewhat relaxed casting rules.
Ok enough nonsense for now. Time for lunch.
