No I don't care that that isn't a word. Suffer.
Welcome to new readers
daltxfurry and
belinus. Okay, I probably shouldn't say welcome to
belinus seeing as that we work together at my second job and it's not like he's a new presence anywhere, but hey. :-p We can bitch about work (the non-Borders variety, for those not in the know).
I've missed a lot of birthdays. Almost too many to name (
rainbowravenx,
hylandr,
kidarrian,
arshraam,
beary_poppins [who has vanished??],
donniea2,
tbearpsy,
eyewrist,
littlegothkitty... I said "almost" too many!).
So, what's up in JD land? Stress. But that's nothing new. Lack of sleep. Again, nothing new. EQ2 and COH. Again, nothing new. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II. Okay, so that's new.
It's fun, but choppy and somewhat glitchy. And conversation trees really could have been coded better. You know, those little conditionals of "if GetLocalInt ("ConversationXXX_Done" = TRUE) return false" and whatnot. I don't remember my NWScript that well. It can't be much different. It's not like they built a brand new engine from scratch for those games, after all. I mean, heck, playing the original all I kept thinking was "oh, they modded NWN for this!". Yes, I know, they recoded almost all of the backend, but when the general mechanics are identical, the interface is very similar, and the visible logic in the game is pretty much the same you just kinda go "well, duh!"
But, yeah. Inter-party conversations are asinine. How many times can I ask CreepyOldBitch if she was a sith and get a nifty ol cutscene out of it? Cuz I've done it three times now. I can't even ask HanSoloBetaVersionZeroPointOne about his combat styles more than once, so why can I ask her over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and.... I think you get the point.
Oh, and I'm level 12 after planet number 2. And I'm a beacon of the light side already. Yes. As in "Glowy Particle Effects of ORGASMIC TERROR" floating behind my paper doll. I love that people can have conversations based on how far Light or Dark you are and they can "see a change" when I hadn't even met them yet and they've never seen me as anything but the GPEOT that I am now.
( spoilery for a couple boss fights that may reveal the early story )
I do like the voice acting, and the plot at least seems to be a little more involved. It does feel like something of a re-hash of the first, but there are enough major differences to make it intriguing at least.
Well, my lunch is almost over, so I'm going to post this and finish eating.
