So, we went shopping. Headed up to Brighton to go to Meijer and have breakfast/lunch/whatever at Wendy's. Originally, the Miejer run was going to be for groceries. You know, milk, break, lunchmeat, cheese, cat food, kitty litter. Just that side of the store. Well, [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi decided he wanted to go buy some long underwear. So, we meandered on over to Men's Clothes and I wound up getting three pairs of "lounge pants". Basically, they're pajama bottoms. They're super comfy too! Got some new socks. Cuz, you know, washing socks is a crime or something. We then headed to look at video games, snicker at the total lack of selection, and then headed toward the grocery side of the store. Along the way, we detoured into the movie section. Nabbed The Two Towers (extended, of course), The Lost Boys, and a movie that wins an award for one of the worst movies EVER: Dungeons & Dragons. That movie was soooo bad.

Hey, it was $10.

Finally nabbed grocery-esque stuff. Got Drain-O for my bathtub... again. Got all sorts of cleaning supplies. O_o Got some actual groceries. Managed to spend about $130.

O_O

Yegads. That was a lot of money.

Came home, put stuff away. Vegged out. Now doing laundry.

It's scary. I'm being... productive...

Oh, PJ pants are KEY. I have many a pair. I finally got a pair of flannel ones for Christmas, I have to get a bigger size though, that's tomorrow's task. ^_^

I think these are flannel... They don't really seem to be though. Just similar.

Greatest ting about Lost Boys: It has a strong supporting actor in the form of Bill S. Preston, Vampire.

Horrible, horrible D&D movie

From: [identity profile] ex-skarrin.livejournal.com
I still worked at Wizards when that movie was being made. TSR *lost the lawsuit* to retake possession of the movie rights to D&D, so they couldn't stop it. Even when the movie went bankrupt, and the BACKERS picked up the tab to complete it in the hopes of getting SOME return on the investment (Jeremy Irons is *not* a cheap-to-use actor, and there were 4 different SFX houses, mostly for the dragons at the end).

Geh. All the employees were given free copies of that DVD. I don't know anyone who actually ACCEPTED a free copy.

Geh.

*nightmarish memories of the "free screening" aka torture session*

The movies not really that bad. There are much worse films out there, particularly in this genre.

The thing with this one is not only is it MST3K worthy, but it had far too large of a budget. And whatever crack-smoking director it was who let Jeremy Irons get away with that horrible horrible piece of over-acting needs to be shot. And whoever cast JUSTIN WHALIN as the romantic lead needs to have their head examined.

And the ears on that Elf were so bad.

The only people who seemed to fit in the roles they played and didn't make horrible mockeries of their parts were Thora Birch and the girl who played the Wizard who helped them. Everything else sucked.

Well, ok, the Dwarf was cool, but it's pretty hard to fuck up a dwarf.
