Pager Duty:
One bad thing about being on pager duty is sometimes the pager actually goes off. That sorta sucks. All in all, it didn't interrupt my sleep since it happened just after 10:00 pm. Still. Very annoying.

One very nice thing about pager duty is I only have a half day tomorrow. Then I get to go home and do stuff like clean the litter boxes and do laundry and clean my bedroom.

Quit laughing. I'm serious...

Sleep:
I once again managed to set my clock for pm instead of am. Fortunately, my cats invaded my dream and woke me up. Literally. The dream had me and [livejournal.com profile] nofunk81 going into this apartment which apparently used to be mine (it was like a townhouse) and we were going to jump off of the balcony into a snow bank cuz it'd be fun but the big huge black guy who lived there was on the balcony so we left, but one of my cats wandered in meowing while we were leaving. So I woke up and saw that it was 7:45. :-p Time to get out of bed.

Incredibly. They just need to stop waking me up at 4:00 am. :-p

Why, um, don't you buy a dual alarm clock? One alarm for your day job and one for your night job! Then you never have to worry about fuzzy catepillars creeping into your dreams.

Or rather - they still will - but you can be a lot less nice to them?

The problem isn't setting my alarm for different jobs. The problem is that my alarm was set for 6:30 am yesterday. It went off. I reset it for 7:30 am. I was resetting it for 6:55 am for this morning. I wound up setting it for 6:55 pm instead.

Just be thankful that you only have pager duty sometimes. I'm on call 24/7, except when I'm sick or on vacation. Granted, I turn my pager off at night, cause I get stupid useless status pages. But that just means that they call me when there's a problem. Argh.

Heh. We're a big enough company that only management is "on-call" 24/7. And since management doesn't really do tech support.....

I work for a large financial institution. If I remember correctly, we were the first symbol on the NY Stock Exchange. We're big. *g* However, pretty much all the software developers (like me) are on call 24/7. Blech. I guess that that's what comes of having so many different needed sofware areas that there's only 10 or so of us in each area.

None of our software devs are on 24/7. Their departments all have rotating pager duty. They may be on for two weeks out of every four, but not every week. Except, again, the managers. Heh.
