Monday Morning

I dropped my car off at Ford this morning to get the windshield replacement done. Hopefully it gets done today. Don't want to have to drag satyr_mi out of work to take me home. It's gonna cost me $250 (my deductible). I'm going to be barely squeezing out rent this week. It's due, well, today, but the last day before it's considered late is Wednesday. Fortunately, my Booth paycheck will be in (and will just cover what is needed for rent) and on Friday I get paid at Borders. Then I'll be all happy and stuff and able to pay bills and buy food. :-p

I am (im)patiently awaiting the arrival of my laptop.

We have newbies at work today! One of whom shares a last name with much of my family, but doesn't look even vaguely related to me. Not that Aunt Maggie's side of my family looks anything like the rest of us, but still. He doesn't look like them. :-p

Ok, this post has taken well over an hour to write. Done now.

Um... cancel that! I got my whole windshield replaced for $190 total. I recently went down to basic insurance coverage so didn't have the windshield thing in there, but there are a lot of places that will repair and give you a discount and/or pay your deductible. Where the heck... oh... from Ford directly... nevermind...

It's highly unlikely I could have gotten my windshield much cheaper. Probably impossible for me to have gotten it for less than $250. I'm pretty much paying for the two pieces of glass that make up the thing and getting my labor for free.

The annoying bit about the windshield is it was just the outer pane that has the crack in it. Too bad it's one unit and can't just replace that part. :-p

I was hoping the insurance company would waive my deductible like they did for satyr_mi when he got into his accident. Of course, I also thought I had a $500 deductible, so the fact that it's a $250 one was a pleasant surprise.

Blah... Still, I would get a second opinion if you had the time to kill... I think I went with Nationwide Auto & Glass or something like that? Used one of those valu-pak insert things... [shrug] The $190 included labor and everything else... and it was for a 1994 Buick Regal... not the newest and latest or whatever...

This is a 2002 ford focus. Not about to invalidate my warranties on the rest of the car by using non-ford parts.

Ah... good point... I've never owned a newer car... but that has served me well, too...
