SAN FRANCISCO, California (AP) -- In a bold political and legal challenge to California law, city authorities officiated at the marriage of a lesbian couple Thursday and said they will issue more gay marriage licenses.

Hm. I'm tempted to call this civil disobedience, performed by city authorities though it is. And here I was expecting backlash from the Massachusetts decisions.

Actually one of the news stories did describe it as civil disobedience. Certainly sounds like it.
