I don't know. Her (his?) view is pretty mainstream, especially in literary criticism. Once a work is out there, the author's interpretation or intention is no longer the only valid response to the work in question. It's never as simple as "listen to what I mean, not what I say". I mean, you may not agree with this person, but they're not being egregiously stupid with that statement.

I didn't follow Season 7 that close. I didn't realize you were criticizing their fact-checking rather than their philosophy. ;)

Except agree? He's exactly right. You shouldn't have to read 100 articles about everything to understand a show and what's intended. It should be right there in the show.
