I'm putting this here so I don't have to hunt for it again.

How do I reset my neighborhoods (lots and families, etc.) back to default?

Question
How do I reset my neighborhoods (lots and families, etc.) back to default?

Answer
If you would like to reset your neighborhoods back to the default lots and families (all save data including new sims will be lost), you can do so by following these steps:

Open your My Documents folder.
Open the EA Games folder.
Right-click on The Sims 2 folder and choose Delete.
When it is finished deleting, close any open windows.
Right-click on your Recycle Bin and choose Empty Recycle Bin.
When it is finished emptying, you may start your game.
When you restart the game, The Sims 2 folder in your My Documents folder will regenerate with the default data, causing all neighborhoods to be reset.

So I take it you have S2.

Any thoughts? What are the possible professions? Lots of customizing features?

It's a lot of fun so far. A little psychotic, but a lot of fun.

Career tracts are Athletic, Business, Criminal, Culinary, Law Enforcement, Medical, Military, Science, and Slacker. Each one technicaly has 13 levels, although 3 of those are the Teen/Senior version of the jobs. The regular adult career paths have 10 levels, just like in the original.

Character creation is crazy. You have a huge amount of control over what their faces look like (bone structure, face size, eye size and color, facial hair, stubble, makeup, glasses, hair style/hats) and you can mix and match shirts and pants/skirts/dresses for their basic outfit. You start out choosing their normal outfit, underwear, formal outfit, pajamas, swimsuit, and exercise outfit.

Object customization is a little less robust. Most objects have multiple versions. You pick the object from the catalog and then select the color/style of the object. Some objects have two choices. For example, the most expensive bathtub has a seperate option for the color of the rim of the tub and the color/pattern of the shower curtain. The most expensive bed has an option for the color and style of the wood frame as well as an option for the bedspread and pillows.

It's a pretty big game so far. I'm sure that in a few months time it'll seem small. :-p Then they'll start having expansions every six months. :-p

Hehe. Well, I think they have cowboy hats and cowboy outfits, but no cowboy career path. :-p

How do I get them to change clothes?

From: (Anonymous)
I have Sims2 just like you and I have created some sims. However, call me an idiot if you'd like, but I cannot figure out HOW to change their clothes??!? I have bought a dresser. There is a "Plan Outfit" option (or something similar). I thought that would let me change their clothes. However, when I choose that option, I do not get the option to scroll through the available clothes. :( Can you help me? Do you know of a way to change their clothes?

You have to go to a community lot to buy new clothes for them. Once you've done that you can go through the "Plan Outfit" options.
