Ultimately us tax payers have to foot the bill for the people who choose to live in high disaster places like New Orleans whenever something like this happens. There is so much land in this country that nobody has to live in a place that is destined to be destroyed. People were saying that something like this could happen at any time years ago after the LAST disaster. I don't want to blame these people but I do take some issue with the ones who refused to leave assuming that it "wouldn't" be that bad.

Easy for you to say -- do you have any earthly idea how much it costs to move? And in THIS job market? Christ, I have a salary and health insurance, and I can't afford to move, much as I'd like to.

OF COURSE I know how much it costs to move. You find a way. I do sympathize but a little less because of the location. There are DUMB places to live and I include New Orleans on that list. It is just a dumb place for a city to be built in the first place. I blame the city planning most of all.

I have the right to voice my opinion without being jumped to judgement here. Show me where I am wrong sure, but you don't have to be nasty about it.

Yes, living in New Orleans does seem like a stupid act to me. That does NOT mean that I was saying that poor people are stupid. Everybody makes dumb decisions sometimes. Even you, even me. What makes a person stupid is doing them often enough. Jeeze. Get your reasoning straight.

The majority of them didn't make the 'decision' to live in New Orleans. They were born there and have never had the money to leave.

A dumb decision I made was getting in a pointless fight over the internet.

Twist my words as much as you want but I am not unsympathetic to the people in NO. (I took back the rest when I realized that you are not the original commenter just somebody butting in.)
