Ya know, I wish the fanatical masses would realize that nobody is banning breastfeeding icons on LiveJournal. Anything with nipples or that could be offensive or obscene is not allowed.... as your default user icon.

I'm sick of reading this everywhere. Four communities, numerous people on my flist and fflist. Get the fuck over it already. This is to prevent them from getting sued and us all from losing out on the service. If you are too dense to realize that, get your own fucking domain and take the free lj sourcecode and make your own boobjournal.

My big problem with it is this: You only have to be 13 years old to have a LiveJournal. In every state in the US, providing images of bare breats to 13 year olds is going to run afoul of indecency laws, and thus get your ass sued. Having them as a default user picture, which shows up in dozens of different, unlocked places, is not smart.

and more importantly, if they're really gung-ho about making nipple pics (because that's the REAl problem, those that show nipple) the user icon everyone sees, then they can choose it every time they post somewhere. They're spending more time being angry about it than just dealing with it.

of course the problem with that method is that at some point, a user might be posting in a public forum and think, "Wait, maybe I shouldn't use THIS icon here..." and then *gasp* they'd be forced to be CONSIDERATE!! after THINKING!!!! two very novel concepts.
