Bought some comics today.

JSA#1
Okay I'm hooked on this one already. The artwork was excellent, the story was very good (even if it really is a low-key Intro of EVERYBODY story), and there were a couple of nice big surprises for the first issue. I laughed so lound I snorted when Power Girl had to shut little miss motormouth up. The final twist wasn't unexpected, given the way the beginning of the issue played out. And the teasers for what is coming were flat out EVIL. Especially (and this is huge, y'all) the Kal-L thing.

Birds of Prey #100
This is an excellent jump-on point for Birds of Prey. Loved the story, which was both funny and dramatic and action packed. And the side-story at the end showing Dinah packing up her house to move with Sin was fantastic. I'm not too clear who the lady at the end of the main story was, but from what I've read from various sources on certain subjects, I wasn't really given any sense that she has anything remotely resembling logical priorities or even necessarily sanity. I get it, they need a main bad-guy thread for the opening of the new-new team, but, eh, it was all pretty "Meh" to me. Before that? All excellent. I'll have to pick up the next issue which will probably make the end of this better.

Also picked up the two latest issues of Batman, but I haven't read them. Apparently the one I picked up last week was older than I thought. The issues I nabbed are #659 and #660. I'll read them tonight, I'm sure.

Also picked up 5 boosters for the WoW CCG for myself and a Starter deck and 5 boosters for [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi. He's napping right now (he's still working off the icky-gunk of doom he's been dealing with) but we'll go through what we've got and get his deck in order. The happy thing is that his pre-made deck is a Tauren Shaman, which is exactly what he wanted. Couldn't have planned it better if we tried.

Well, I'm going to sort out cards and re-build my Priest deck now.

I've never read JSA before. I looked at the "Final Issue" of the last run and was horrified by the artwork (they looked like Play-Dough). I was very excited about the new book, though, and I loved it. Most of the characters? No clue who they are. I used Wikipedia to catch me up. :p

I really enjoyed going back and reading all the back issues of JSA. And now the single issue of Justice Society of America is keeping me happy too :)
