WHY???

Why does City of Heroes do this to me?? I manage to wean myself slightly of the addiction, and thus enable myself to spend more time in World of Warcraft, and then they go an announce the next free content update to the game and make me panic that I'll never get a villain to 50 before it launches so I can be one of the 2000 people per server that makes a newbie Blood Widow when it goes live. :p

LOL About half way down the comments someone mentions that this must be SOE's way of dealing with the looming Champions Online.
Well..um....DUH.
Same reason WoW has an expansion set for right around the time that Warhammer Online launches.

I still seriously doubt I'll be back to Coh before Champions launches. =( Even though I am VERY curious about the Epic classes, I never even unlocked those on the Hero side.

Champions isn't coming out for at least another year. This is coming out in the next two to three months.

I'm five levels away from unlocking Kheldians and 12 levels away from unlocking the Villain epics. I think I might be able to pull it off.

(And it's NCSoft, not SOE. O_O I don't think I could keep playing if it were SOE, heh.)

Ooooh I thought Soe bought this one out as well, which is why Cryptic is now working on Champions. But I guess it just fell to NCSoft. I got my games mixed up.

And yeah I know Champions is a year away, but COH/V has a LOT of work to do if they are going to compete. They haven't even done the color options on powers yet, and they were promising that back when I was playing! I was very excited about having purple fire, but it never happened.

They never promised power customization. They said they'd like to be able to do it, but it'd involve rewriting their entire powers system. Recently, Back Alley Brawler did a large post about how the current power system works and what would need to be done to change it. They did get weapon customization, at least, which is fun, but that was a minor change to the powers, since weapons only ever animate on the player and not on a target.

NCSoft bought out the rights to City of and took the ENTIRE dev team with them. Which is basically all the people who had been trying to make the game better. And now they have the budget and support to do so, which they didn't really get at Cryptic.

I am sosoSO excited about the villain epics. They don't need to hurry up with I12 though because my highest level villain is 37 or something right now. It's gonna take a lot of Longbow to hit 50! Heh. =)

I know! Kall is 38 (she recently acquired her Dark Servant), but still. 12 levels of pain to get to 50.

But.. but.. BLOOD WIDOWS! WANT WANT WANT WANT WANT!
