jdotmi: (Letalli in WoW)

Yes, y'all, I'm taking the remainder of my vacation time before January! Why? Well, tonight at midnight World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King launches. I will be at Gamestop picking up mine and [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi's copies of the game, which we've already paid for, going home, installing it, and then I will spend the next seven days in Azeroth during my every waking moment.

Really, y'all. It's gonna be EPIC. Except for that part where all my shiny purples will be replaced with blues and greens, but that's neither here nor there. And if that sentence made no sense to you, just smile and nod. Really, it's safer that way.

The hubby has been doing a leveling guide in .pdf format and has been linking every quest in it. As he was working on it, he was also looking at the quest rewards - if you're not one of certain specs, you're screwed for gear outside of instances. The best example is in leather rewards. If you're a boomkin or resto druid, you're pretty much taking the cloth reward every time because 95% of the leather choices are for rogues/feral druids.

Seems mail users don't have it as bad. There's less of a disparity in rewards for enhance shaman/hunters and elemental/resto shamans.

Sounds like how Burning Crusade screwed over Warriors. Pretty much all the plate gear I got from quests (beyond one or two in HFP) were obviously for pallys...lots of +int, +spell power, +heal, etc. My arms warrior has pretty much been wearing the full Fel Iron set from about 63-70, since I mostly quest and rarely instance.

Yup, I remember that being an issue too. It wasn't until the 68-70 quest zones where you'd get appropriate warrior gear from quests.

Are you still playing on Garona then? I hardly see you on!

Yup, I am. My online gaming time's been fairly limited by virtue of me not feeling like playing much. *g* A week or so ago I decided to make the push to hit 70 finally (was at 68). I've also been playing a baby horde toon on Proudmoore lately.

Fortunately for me I'm feral. Heh. As it is for my healy gear it's half cloth half leather now anyway, so that doesn't bother me at all.

It's so cute that you think you'll be able to actually play and not be lagged out all to hell for the next week ;)

I didn't on BC launch, and I'm on one of the four servers they're still allowing free transfers off of. We were being threatened with server splits during BC launch.
