Well, I was going to go play Star Trek Online, but it appears my subscription lapsed without me turning on any billing options yet. Oops. I'll wait til Friday to re-up that. Instead, I think I'll play Champions Online for a little while.

I was in the beta and a friend gave me a 5-day pass, which just expired. As much as they got the look and feel down, the game itself doesn't feel very "Star Trek" especially when playing the Federation. So few exploration and learning missions. Mostly it's "warp into a sector, blow the crap out of all enemy ships, blow the crap out of ground troops" and off to the next.

I've definitely reached that point where any MMO feels like ALL MMOs. I still enjoy Champions Online a bit, but I have a Lifetime Sub for that one.

Yeah... Cryptic's MO for MMOs now seems to be "sell as many Lifetimes as we can, because the game will be dead within 2 years anyway". They are on an 18 to 24 month dev cycle for new MMOs. And they hired the dipshit responsible for the fiasco that was Hellgate: London.

Yeah. Cryptic is screwed. Especially if Atari loses the Neverwinter Nights franchise, which is the next MMO they are working on.
