Final Fantasy X
So, I finally beat Final Fantasy X. True to form, took me about a year to actually get around to doing it. Not because it took me that long to play, but because I bought it, played it for a week, then put it away and didn't play it again for a year. Did the same thing with VII and VIII. I still haven't beaten IX, but I just can't seem to get into it. Going to force the issue at some point.
So, now the battles are won, and it's time for me to start annhialating the game. 3 Celestial Weapons down: Rikku, Yuna, and Auron. The three easiest Celestial Weapons to achieve at that, so I'm not that impressed with myself.
I have gotten the Catcher Chocobo race down to 0:02:00. Do you know how aggravating that was?
I have completed one of the Butterfly catching games. One to go.
I have dodged 17 bolts of lightning in a row. I am not looking forward to this on an epic scale.
I have the Attack Reels. I need to get the Status Reels and the Auroch's Reels. Then here's to hoping for the Sigil.
I need to go do the Omega Ruins area. Here's to hoping I can pull off 99 warp spheres from it.
I need to finish capturing fiends. Almost done. Well, other than only capturing like 2 from Inside Sin and like none from Omega Ruins.
Need to try one or two of the AP gaining tricks out there. This requires the above to be mostly completed first so I can get more bonus items so I can start customizing my Overdrive -> AP gear.
Need to totally finish everyone on the Sphere Grid. Yes, I'm insane like that. Yes I will be able to pull it off.
So, other than my disastrous first run at the final battles, this ending was, to be blunt, way too easy. Jecht is hard, but he's not that hard. Yunalesca was more dangerous, in my opinion. The battles with the Aeons were a joke. Next time I'm going to go backwards down the list and see if maybe I can summon one Aeon to blast another. Will make the Magus Sisters that much easier if I can just Mega Flare them or something. Every other one died in one hit. Auron was pulling of 10 to 20k hits and Wakka was 9999'ing like mad.
I look at how much damage I'm dishing out and thinking "why on earth would I want to finish the sphere grid with everyone? I mean, come on, they'll all be pulling of 99,999 hits! o_O"
Yu Yevon was a joke. First off, everyone started off with Auto-Life on them. WHY??? What the hell was that??? I mean, it's not like Yu Yevon was actually hurting anyone. The only danger that you might have had is if you knocked out a Yu Pagoda and the other one blasted you and confused you. It's just dumb. Was highly annoyed by that.
The ending sequence should have been longer. I wanted more. I guess I'm spoiled. Heh. A friend of mine said he cried during it, and I will admit to having gotten a might choked up. It's so sad. Yuna just looked so stunned and in shock when she ran through Tidus and the pyrefly came out from under her hand. And when she was performing the final sending and Auron started to disappear was really sad too.
It was kind of cool when Tidus jumped off the Airship into the cloud that had been Sin and he slapped hands with Jecht. Cheesy, but cool. Especially since Auron and Braska were there.
Oh, speaking of Jecht... I really really REALLY hated the music during that boss fight. Bleh... x_x
Final battle was kind of annoying. Barring major buildup of Yuna in other ways, all she was good for was casting Curaga and Holy. And even Curaga was a waste of time. Toss a mega potion with Rikku (who had Alchemy on her armor) and you took care of that issue. Of course, the fact that Yuna was pulling 15k hits with Holy was kinda nice.
Very very very excited. Have no interest in FF XI. BUT!!! They are really actually finally oh-my-god-I-don't-believe-it making a STORYLINE SEQUEL to a Final Fantasy game!!!!!!! Final Fantasy X-2 is coming out in 2003 in Japan. It sure as hell had better be coming this way too. Go over to http://www.rpgamer.com to see some of the promotional art images of the game. Yuna goes all Laura Croft. It's kinda weird. Of course, she's travelling "incognito" so it makes sense. She's obviously disguised as an Al Bhed. But, sheesh, she's showing some skin! o_O
