So, yesterday was interesting. What with the not having to work and all that. I called home and talked to Mom for a bit. She was surprised I was calling and asked if I was going to come over since I didn't have work now. I opted to stay at home and more or less veg out on my first day of partial-unemployment. It was nice to talk to her, though. And said "Hi" to everyone else who was there. Which pretty much consisted of my cousin Rhonda from who I could hear. I'm sure there were others, but oh well.

I played a bit of WoW, a little bit of Sims 2, and then some more WoW. Chatted online with people, too. Did some laundry. Ate some mac-n-cheese. Played with the kitties. Almost had a minor freakout around 4pm, which is when I would normally have started work, and then watched some TV, got bored/tired, and crawled into bed. Crawled into bed just as [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi was getting home from visiting his sister at that.

Today marked day two of my partial-unemployment, which promptly reminded me that I am indeed employed full time. Holy hell I'm busy at the full time job. I've gotten a bit behind in my work, but made a pretty damn good dent in my backlog today. Especially considering Mondays are our worst day of the week, typically winding up with 10 to 15 new cases each. I ended the day with fewer cases than I started it with, so that's saying something.

We're hoping to head on over to visit [livejournal.com profile] lilacmoon5 and her non-LJing husband before they move out to DC Land, but this coming weekend being tax weekend... Eh. Who cares. I'll do my taxes Thursday and toss them in the mail Friday. I'll owe a little bit of Federal and get a ton back from State like usual. The benefit of keeping out extra each check.

All in all, this has been a good few days. Gonna have to see how the next few weeks play out. Heh.
jdotmi: (Default)
So, despite having a really nice computer... flipping between WoW and Sims 2? Not gonna happen.

Yes, I tried. :p It didn't blow up, it just wasn't fun.

Gonna re-nuke my custom neighborhood when I get home and start over with two Young Adults instead of two Adults. I just can't stand not having the perks from graduation. And since none of my hacks are updated yet, I'm so going to work my way through normally.

This does mean one rather unfortunate thing, though. I am going to have to create 3 sims. The two Founders, and then a late arrival for when they graduate from UNI.

Hmm. Must not spend rest of workday wishing I was home. Yes I should. Hush you. No

...

I'm not crazy. Don't look at me like that. :p

Lunch break!

New Sims 2 expansion is out this weak. Seasons. Either [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi or myself will be picking it up today. I probably won't get much play time with it, though, since I have to kill a dragon tonight.

Watched some Candice and some Jane (albeit, slightly americanized) last night. Kitties were annoyed that they didn't have the couch to themselves, though.

Um. Hmm. Nothing else interesting to post about. Had a pretty boring couple of days this week so far. *shrugs*
jdotmi: (Ruann)
I got home so early yesterday! It was surreal! I can't wait for the day I'm not working 4/10 anymore on a regular basis. As much as I am not a morning person, I'd love the 7 to 4 simply because I'd get home sometime before I have to go to bed at night!

Installed The Sims 2 and all it's expansions (no Stuff packs, as I have none) on the new computer. It runs like a dream. I only played for about half an hour, though, before hopping over to Civ IV land. Played that for an hour before hopping into WoW land to do one quest turn in and update all of my character profiles on RPGOutfitter.

Did some chatting with people online during all of that. Alt+Tab on the new machine doesn't even phase it at all. It's a glorious thing.

So, today, not sure what I'm doing. I'm taking a small WoW break because I need a bit of a breather. Letalli's going to hit 60 within the next three weeks tops, and we have a Sunken Temple run scheduled for Friday evening. All the quests but one have greened out on me already for that. After that I'm going to grind Timbermaw faction up to at least Friendly and then probably go back to the Western Plaguelands to do the AD quests there.

I think I'm going to do some more Sims 2 gaming tonight. I need to get Pleasantview all set up on the new machine. Have to add Sim State University to it as well as Downtown and Bluewater Village. Need to marry off Don to Cassandra, get Mortimer and Dina engaged (but I don't get them married at her place), get Nina started on her career path, get Daniel and Mary-Sue's relationship patched up, get Lillith and Angela friendly with one another, get Brandi un-pregnant and make her meet Darren Dreamer.

I should also go back to the Realms Beyond game for Civ IV that I'm playing. I'm about halfway done with it, I think. I'll probably get pasted by an AI soon anyway. But I want to finish it and write up the report so that it's ready on reporting day. I already know a few things I did spectacularly wrong, but I've never played at Monarch level before anyway.

Well, it's almost time for my lunch to be over and for me to get back to work. So, off I go!
jdotmi: (Default)
For the first time in months, I did some major home-pc cleanup on Sunday. Got home from work, booted up my computer, uninstalled several old games I wasn't using. Also uninstalled Sims 2 to give it a clean install since I replaced my video card. Once everything was uninstalled, I deleted some backup files that I no longer needed, re-organized my second hard drive, and then proceeded to run WinDoctor and Speed Disk to clean up the rest. Took about three hours for Speed Disk to finish on both drives. Did a nice lil reboot then reinstalled Sims 2. Haven't had a chance to play yet, as I got sucked into a quick Deadmines run last night with my Warlock, but that's all good.

Quick being a relative term, of course. :-p

Wound up staying up way too late last night. Almost didn't wake up on time this morning. Thankfully, [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi woke me up.

And now, I caffinate!
jdotmi: (Default)

  • Make a post pimping my movie night in case anybody didn't see it yesterday.

  • Close lots of cases at work. Don't laugh at me, I'm serious. :-p

  • Vacuum when I get home. Entire apartment again.

  • Take pictures and post of the new house/home business I built in The Sims 2 last night.

  • Make vaguely whiny reference to the fact that I made my ear bleed about five minutes ago.

And that's all.

I finally finished my Lonely Shopkeep challenge! Took long enough. Stephen finally kicked the bucket and has amassed his fortune. And what a fortune it is.

$1,213,218

The rules of the challenge were:
  • One Adult Sim made in CAS.

  • Move the Sim into a 1x3 lot.

  • This sim may never marry or ask anyone to move in. This sim is also not allwed to get pregnant or to adopt a child. He/she must stay single until the day he/she dies.

  • "Aging off" may not be used.

  • No money cheat code and/or object of any kind may be used and that includes ALL aspiration rewards.

  • This sim may not earn money for having a job, from painting, busking or from any other way a sim can earn money by.

  • No custom objects of any kind may be used, and that includes walls and floors... basically anything that can give you an advantage by being cheaper or giving perks. When in doubt, assume that it's not allowed.

  • This sim is not allowed to hire any kind of help, like maid, gardener, repairman or staff for the store. This also includes the Servo and any other robots.

  • The sim may not buy additional community lots or businesses, he/she may only have what he/she builds on her own lot.

  • The ten business perks your sim can earn by running his/hers shop, is of course fair game. How you spend those ten business perks is up to you and is a part of the OFB strategy and for this challenge.

The Challenge.
  • The object of the challenge is, to have this sim build his own combined home/shop on the 1x3 lot he started out with, and then make a living running a business of some kind.

  • You may start any kind of business you like and can afford. You may expand and/or change type of business as the years roll by for your sim, as long as you stay on the lot you started out with.

  • When the sim dies, his/her total worth is what we compete with. This is the total of the Cash in their account and the Lot Value of their lot.

You can view my gallery from this challenge here.

Time to yammer a bit.

Played some Sims 2 last night. Got my lonely shopkeeper to Elder status and a day past. 29 more sim-days to live according to SimPE. He's filthy stinking rich, but owns practically nothing. Can't wait for him to finally kick the bucket so I can post all the pictures and write the story for it. Not really any exciting pictures, mind you, but pictures nonetheless. Mostly pictures of the key business events that occurred. And the two robberies, both of which were apprehended by the cops, but not before the second one actually made off with his TV.

Played some City of Heroes as well. Did some Carnie bashing with Kung Ru. Quote of the night: "Finally done with the Carnies! (He said, in the middle of Madeleine Casey's story arc...)" Pondered doing some Longbow bashing with Kalleesta, but sleep was more important in the long run.

Waking up this morning was... interesting. So did not want to get up, but then my bladder said "You had how much water/soda yesterday? You last went pee when exactly? That's right, bitch, GET THE FUCK UP NOW!" I think it's eyes turned red and it started breathing fire at that point, but I'm not sure as I was busy stumbling to the bathroom.

And now, work time!
jdotmi: (Kung Ru)
My phrase of choice when signing in to City of Heroes/Villains. Don't care what time it is. I just say "Good morning LiveJournal!" to the global channel. Invariably, I'm right for at least one other person on the channel. :-p

Last night, I played a new villain for a bit, and then I took some character select screen pictures of various characters. Hidden Justice, Kung Ru, Kalleesta, Violent Inertia, and Dancing Diva. The last two are relatively new, and the last is the one I made last night. Kung Ru is level 43, hence the yellow glowy shit behind her (and in this spiffy new Icon!) which is from her Aura. Hidden Justice is 34, but her Aura is currently only on her third costume. Kalleesta is 27 and rapidly advancing. Violent Inertia, who may get a re-roll, is 4. Dancing Diva is 3. I gave up playing when Mercy Island turned into a slideshow on her.

Oddly enough, I had been having serious slideshow issues on the laptop with CoX. I had turned down most all of the graphic settings as low as they could go, and I was still stuttering like mad every time I turned a corner. So, I said "FUCK IT!", clicked "Restore Defaults" in the graphics options, re-set the resolution to the highest the laptop allows, and rebooted. Suddenly, the screenshow was gone. o_O I hadn't even killed the background processes that don't need to be running on it like I normally do. Only thing I can think of is some random thing on there that says "turning this off will improve performance!" lied and really meant "turning this off will turn your game into a slideshow, motherfucker! BWAHAHAHAHAHA!" Either way, I was so excited, I logged in to several characters and rearranged their UI's and recolored all of them. :-p

I started doing a Sims 2 challenge that got started on Neigborhood 99 called "The Lonely Shopkeeper". I made Stephen Singleton, a Fortune Sim whose lifetime goal was to earn $100,000. He met that goal 10 or 12 days into the game. ^_^ Now he only sells really really expensive vases and makes huge amounts of money doing it. He just has to take the time to tell all his customers to get lost now and then to get more in who want to shop and not have pillow fights in the middle of his store. 9_9 The perils of having a Rank 10 home business, I guess. Not that you'd know it looking at his home. The only nice thing in his room is his bed, which is the most expensive single bed you can buy, and that's only because I want him awake as soon as possible to re-open his shop! Sadly, Stephen is very lonely. Nobody to love, and only one friend in all of Strangetown. He did find Bella, though! 9_9 And he really really really likes the Thief who tried to break into his store one night while he was asleep. He's still furious at her (he was at -100/-100 after her break in), but his relationship towards her is no 73/65. o_O He still gets the Furious thought bubble, and her portrait still has some of the Furious meter left in it. Very very odd.

Well, it's about time for me to punch in to work at my real job now. And apparently my email box is over the limit AGAIN. Since I just deleted several megs of emails with attachments of death on Thursday, this pisses me off. Of course, I was also mentally retarded and forgot to delete my Sent Items, so that's probably what did it. :-p

Laters!

Yes, you are seeing double. I wanted an actual public post since they are rare and this is the kind of thing I tend to ramble about in case anyone who isn't on my list actually clicked through and wanted to know what I'm rambling about lately. :-p
jdotmi: (Kalleesta COV)
Apparently I can only update once a week. :-p I'm just lame like that.

[livejournal.com profile] carebear_flare came over on Tuesday. He got to learn just how deep my Sims 2 addiction runs. That's all I'll say about that. :-p Fortunately, he brought a PS2 game of his over to keep him busy while I ignored everyone else in the apartment for the sake of my Sims.

I completed the "story" I've been posting over on Scrapbook, but I plan on doing an edit of it at some point to pare it down. It's over 300 pictures at the moment, after all. Now I'm getting the children through University and setting up their own families. The oldest daughter (Tanya) is already Mayor and her husband (Richard) is Captain Hero. The oldest son (Matthew) is working on his Business career and his wife (Allana) is working on her Medical career as well as going with her mother in law (Melinda) to the Spa to work up her own Cosmetology badge so she can eventually buy the lot for herself. The second son (Marcus, twin of Matthew) is unemployed, but getting his home set up to be a home business (think brothel, only GAY!) and his husband (Malcolm) is working in his Art career. The third boy (Eric) is about to head off to University. He just needs 8 Creativity skill points and some dance skill first. The second daughter (Allison) is halfway through her Teen years. The youngest boy (Peter) is two days from becoming a Teen. He may get an early ejection to University just so his parents aren't elders when he graduates and gets married. Plus that will allow Matthew and Allana to have their own children and activate the Servo he made while in University.

I've been playing City of Villains as well. Kalleesta is working on Diviner Morass (whatever the hell his name is) and Archmage Taraxus (whatever the hell his name is) in Sharkhead Isle. Almost done with their missions, I think. Then she's moving on to Nerva for a brief stay in the most annoying zone in the game. And I mean that in the nicest, please kill me now, way possible. Beautiful zone, don't get me wrong. It's just the fact that it's a combination of Perez Park, Talos Island, and Independence Port if you mooshed the three together and then got them all very stoned. It's the West Karana of CoV. I played some City of Heroes as well and finally did Hidden Justice's I5/I6 respec. I then proceeded to solo a Warburg mission and got the villain badge for 50 PvP missions. o_O Well, that's what it's description seems to indicate anyway. I was highly amused. Turns out that she can solo Heroic missions without much trouble, short of finding two groups mooshed together. Maybe I'll solo her in Warburg until she can get a team since it's easier than running around all of creation for her normal contacts.

I want to make a Dark/* Corruptor or a */Dark Defender because someone over at [livejournal.com profile] city_of_heroes decided to call Tenebrous Tentacles "Molestacles" (and someone else called them Hentaicles) and I must now have the power so I can bind it to a phrase that says "MOLESTACLATION!!! AIEEEEEEE!!!" or something similarly juvenile. Probably not that particular one, because I'm sure someone without a sense of humor would report me on it, but still.

And now I'm going to get to work. My oldest cases can't have anything done with them, because they're all in Singapore or Australia, and those poeple don't like answering the phone in the middle of the night for some reason.
jdotmi: (Default)
Still alive. Playing a lot of Sims 2. My "legacy" neighborhood is flying at the moment. I've got pics up on LJ in quasi-story format about it here, but I want to re-work it some so that it flows better. The screenshots vary wildly in quality because some were taken on my laptop and some were taken on my home PC. My home PC has the much much better looking pictures. :-p

Been playing a bit of City of Villains as well. Kalleesta is now level 26. Pet Lich of Molestacle-Spammy Goodness. Doing one of the hidden contacts in Sharkhead Isle at the moment. Probably going to skip most of the Nerva content on her just because of this fact. I got tired of flying around Nerva in beta (tried and failed at three Treespecs) and I want to explore St. Martial some more, so that'll be fun.

I beat Dragon Quest VIII, but I think I already mentioned that. I did the post-game required bits too, but haven't yet done the insanity combo of doom yet on the Lord of Dragovians. It's okay, though, because I needed a break from that.

Well, it's time to get back to work. Busy day today. It's my Friday! ^_^
jdotmi: (Default)
So. I started a new neighborhood in Sims 2. Unlike some previous attempts, I did not nuke the entirety of the Townie pool after creating it. It was tempting to do so, but I didn't. I'm actually having a lot of fun and pseudo-taking my time. I say "pseudo" because I'm still tearing through UNI with the two founders of the Neighborhood, but I'm taking time to take lots of pictures. And when I say "lots of pictures", I mean lots of pictures.

I also uploaded some of the pictures from my picture phone of the last Shadowrun gaming session we had. Those are a bit more locked down, though. You can see all the stuff I've uploaded (CoH and CoX pictures, gaming pictures, Sims pictures, and at least one hillarious goof by Petsmart) here.

Uh oh...

jdotmi: (Ruann)
So, like, [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi text messaged me yesterday and told me to go shopping after work. At Best Buy. To pick up Open for Business.

And I'm at work today.

*grumble*

Why, no, I don't have a Sims 2 addiction... really!

Too much to get done today, and I'm chained to my desk for a bit so can't do much of it yet.

Just got the Ultimate Key in Dragon Quest VIII. Time to go treasure hunting again. I might have enough mini medals already to get the Sacred Armor (or whatever the hell it's called, the thing after the Miracle Sword). I may go back to Baccarat and play some Roulette to get some cash (Prayer Rings sell nicely) since I'm pretty much out, and I know there's a lot of good things to buy soon, and I'll not be able to Zoom around for a little bit shortly. Plus I want to make sure I finish all the big mixes I can do before heading into the Pirates Cove.

[livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi made a very tasty dinner last night. Chicken (kinda a staple for us) and the corn casserole recipe he got from his sister. That stuff is entirely way too good.

The new expansion for The Sims 2, called Open for Business comes out... well, today. Some people got their copies on Monday since they shipped pre-orders on Friday. We'll probably be waiting until next week to get it. Or Friday, since I get paid at both jobs this week. But I do have to pay rent this week, so I'm going to probably wait.

So, I've decided I want a social life again. Hanging out with [livejournal.com profile] eligrrl last week was fun, after all. I miss hanging out with my friends! Maybe some local people wanna plan a big Red Robin night or something. Or everyone could come over and watch Rent or some Margaret Cho DVD at my place. That reminds me, I need to pick up her latest DVD.

Anyrate, must get back to work. Have computers to break. Er, fix.
jdotmi: (Default)
Small lunch today. Very small. Having Red Robin for dinner tonight with [livejournal.com profile] eligrrl! Mmmm. Cheese sticks. Mmmm. Hopefully it's not too busy there at 6:30 when we get there. :-p It's a Wednesday, it shouldn't be that bad.

Today at work is "JD Calls twenty billion stores and closes four cases total" day, apparently. Well, maybe six cases.

Oh well.

Completed the Monster Arena sidequest in Dragon Quest VIII. Got my mage with the magic bikini back in my party. Opened up a fun lil Casino of DOOM. Now have to milk it for tokens to buy a scary whip and some nice weapons to go Metal Slime Hunting with.

Need to play some Sims 2. Maybe make a new Neighborhood for play on my PC at home since I'm already playing a Pleasantview on the laptop.

Off to do some reading before I have to punch back in now.
jdotmi: (William)
Today is just dragging. At least I'm finally in the last 20 minutes of my work day. New episode of Smallville tonight, but I may wait until later to watch it. I say that now knowing full well I'll be glued to the TV at 8 whether I like it or not.

Thank god it's my weekend. I've done enough work this week. :-p Tomorrow is a laundry day. And a Meijer day. And a car payment day. And a cell phone payment day. And then I'm done with bills until rent is due in two more weeks.

Hmmm. Did I pay my AAA renewal? I think I did... I remember writing the check, at least. I'll have to look in my checkbook when I get home.

Ooohhh maybe I'll do some Sims 2 when I get home tonight. Well, if I can resist the temptation that is Dragon Quest VIII...

Anyrate, done being random for now.
jdotmi: (Default)
When I get into something new, I really really get into it. If you look through the last two months worth of entries I've posted, you'll probably see indications that I am heavily addicted to Smallville, which is definitely not one of the best television shows ever produced. Fortunately, after a while, I reach a point where the obsession goes away, or at the very least becomes something slightly less neurotic. Finally hit that point. I mean, I was actually bored on my lunch break yesterday because I didn't go reading obsessively about things related to the show. :-p I still am finishing re-watching Season 4, and am watching new episodes as they air, but it's not the only thing I do with my free time anymore. :-p

So now I need new obsessions. Dragon Quest VIII is working nicely for a little bit, and I'm getting back into The Sims 2. I need to finish reinstalling it on my PC (still have to install Nightlife and the latest patch they released last week). I've also gotten back into City of Heroes/Villains thanks to them changing some of the game-stopping missions that spring surprise Archvillains on you (they'll be Elite Bosses if you're solo, which means that anyone with anything resembling healthy, sustained DPS should be able to take them out), and both [livejournal.com profile] satyr_mi and I are back into World of Warcraft. After my post from yesterday, we sorta decided to keep it running after the timecards run out. At least for the time being. I'm even considering a few more games of Civilization IV. Now I just need more free time to actually do all these things. :-p

On a related note, since we're supposedly playing Shadowrun on the 25th, I requested the 26th off from Borders and am considering requesting it off from Booth as well.

And now, time to do more work (virus issues annoy me).

*pokes the journal*

I'm not dead yet.

Just, ya know, non-updatey.

Sims 2 ate my brain.

Last day of VACATION!

boo.

:(

And on an unrelated tangent, a brand spankin' new neighborhood in The Sims 2 with both University and Nightlife installed created a total of 263 character files. That's townies, dormies, downtownies, service NPCs, carpool NPCs, secret society members, and the Downtown exclusive characters (Mr Big, Ms Diva, Slobs, Grand Vampires).

Two hundered and sixty three.

o_o

Yikes...
